I root for Germany and Italy, because my grand-grand parents came from these countries, but specially Germany, because Schwainsteiger and Müller (Not my cousin) are great players

My family is generations removed from Germany but my sister was also stationed there. I've had Bayern Munich and German National Team jerseys since I was a freshman in high school.

I want to get the Bayern Munich jersey, the red one, I like the team and the design. A real player with my last name is a plus!

It took me a while to figure out just how Greece advanced over Russia when both teams ended up with 4 points and Russia had more goals. Apparently the first tie-breaker considered in the Euros is "head to head", so not only did Greece get 3 points over Russia, they advance because they beat them "head to head". I suppose that makes sense... you beat the team you're tied with so you advance... just seemed a little odd... hadn't heard of that before.

The results for Group A ended up being pretty weird.

I just found out tonight's games are actually both at 20:45. So I will have to watch it all alone since I am the only one that's more interested in the Portugal game than the Germany game. :(

Weird, coming from a German. I'm going to be doing a lot of channel-switching tonight I think.

I grew up in Portugal. That's who I root for usually. As soon as they're out I take second best and am for the germans, but until then it's força Portugal!

I'm right there with you... after all, isn't the Portugal VS. Netherlands game more important? Or at least there is more at stake.

Well looks like Ronaldo finally showed up and the Dutch side just looked dreary besides van der Vaart. I certainly think Portugal deserve to advance. One of my favorite teams to watch this tournament.

I think the Germans got away with one on that shirt pull. Basically the Danes got punished for trying to keep playing and getting a shot off instead of just going down. Regardless, the Germans were clearly the better team, and I don't know why they played so lax, it's not like the were guaranteed a spot in the quarters.
