Your mind must be hot garbage. :) That show is better than 90% of what's out there.

My 2.5 year old son enjoys:

Puffin Rock (Netlifx)
Larva (Netflix)
Tumble Leaf (Prime)

And not exactly shows but nicely done short movies on Netflix, all done by the same company:
Room on the Broom
The Gruffalo
The Gruffalo Child

subscribing because I've got one on the way and look after an 18 month old a bit.

Also you know what really wierds me out with anthropormorphic cartoon animals? One of my dogs can fucking tell when it's meant to be a dog. Like even it it's like Brian on Family Guy or something she's like HEY, THAT'S A DOG IN THE TV. FUCK YOU OTHER DOG.

Most children's television is half-assed.

Everything about peppa pig is stilted and lacks any interesting qualities. The color palette is bland and the voice acting falls super flat.

If I want something with anthropomorphic animals, calm atmosphere and bright colors, I'll put on 2001: A Space Oddity.

But maybe I'm thinking about this too much. :erm:

I can't be of much assistance, because I don't have/think about kids (especially like 4th grade and under) but I watch the cartoons made by/for sad college-aged people.

That being said, Steven Universe and Regular Show are awesome, but they do have a lot of fighting, so maybe wait a few years.

Obviously, Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli are peerless, but perhaps not for small children. The exceptions would be Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro. (Er, "fun" fact: Totoro is ostensibly about Death coming to claim the victims of a rape-murder, but hey, the kids don't need to know that!) Those movies ARE my childhood. Incredible stuff. And a total gateway drug for anime.

Cartoon Saloon is the absolute shit, studio outta Ireland. Their first movie, Secret of Kells, is not for small children, but the follow-up, Song of the Sea, and the Netflix Original Series Puffin Rock are beautiful. You'll like them as much as your kid. So effin' chill. Song of the Sea is really pagan. Like, somewhere Julian Cope is blazing and watching Song of the Sea and loving it.

Gotta recommend Yo Gabba Gabba! It's the best music show out there, loaded with performances from indie rock, pop, and hip-hop bands, and totally a gateway into cool music. It was created by The Aquabats and it shows. This is another one that you're sort of secretly liking as much as your kids (at least on the first go-around).

Curious George is fantastic. It's basically a presentation of the scientific method, in a cute kid's cartoon. There's a lot of math, logic, and stuff like that, but if you were a kid, you'd just have fun watching it, you'd never feel like you were having education pushed on you. The movies are okay, but in a sense not as good, because a) the celebrity voice actors are horrifically distracting and not as good as the voice actors in the series, like Jim Cummings and people like that who are way better, and b) there are villains and a plot and stuff which is just no bueno, harshes my fucking buzz.

Peppa Pig is the fucking antichrist.

Babar, Mr. Rogers and maybe lambchops if you want your kids to be decent humans.

Throw in some power puff for entertainment.

My sister loved Doug when she was like 5.

That is what I hoped for. Asking about cartoons on ILF is just tossing a hook into weirdo waters.

Well, many ILFers actually have small children. I do not. :picard:

Adventure Time is fucking amazing, but I'm not even sure most adults are up for appreciating some of the themes.

Things my son likes:

-Spongebob Squarepants. Hes only seen the first 3 seasons and the two movies. This is fine with me since the newer episodes are meh.

-Adventure Time. Flipping sweet cause we both dig this. Shows cool with interesting animation and a wacked out story. Yes, I'll take two.

-Mickey (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, old Mickey cartoons, Mickey Holiday specials, ect) He actually found Mickey Mouse all on his own. Was random but way awesome cause now he likes all these old school Mickey and Disney cartoons. pretty sweet.

-Classic Godzilla. I totally showed him this and he totally loves it. He has caught a glimpse of the newer 2015 american Godzilla, hes ok with it but doesnt stick around. Not enough "dinosaurs" for him.

Things I think are awesome to show your kids that I havent mentioned yet:

-Studio Ghibli movies. I plan on giving my son the introduction to these with My Neighbor Totoro soon. These movies are definately something I wish I had seen when I was younger, and are on par with Disney for me. Keep in mind that some of the films like Princess Mononoke and others geared towards teen audiences might not be as good of choices. But Totoro. Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, I feel like these are awesome places to start for young children.

-The Amazing World of Gumball. Similar vein to Adventure Time, just in a normal town setting and possibly more wacked out. My son already loves Cartoon Network, so I wanna get him into this show as soon as I can.

-We Bare Bears. A newer choice, reminds me sort of Ed Edd 'n Eddy with how the bears are always trying to get internet famous. A dope and super funny show.

-Classic Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Cause dude, kids need to see Tommy be brave, see Chicken eat pig butt, see Arnold meet the pigeon man, watch kids be spies, three dudes try really hard to get jawbreakers and struggle with how Catdog Poops. Just, DO IT.

And them newer Disney movies are good. Tangled is excellent. Frozen too, just kinda overhyped. Yip.
