"the police are coming, you should play your favorite songs before they get here."

DID here that at a house party once.

hahaha, at least you got a warning! Only time I've had a gig where the police showed up we were playing until someone came up and was like "uh, guys, the police are at the door, you have to shut up".

the three or four times i've had cops come to shut down house shows they seemed shocked and amazed that i was polite to them and respectful instead of FUCK YOU PIIIIIG I DO WHAT I WANT.

a couple times they told us to just turn down some and be done by 10.

I did a show once where we were told they were on their way, and there were like three bands left to play. So, seeing as we were sharing most gear anyway, everyone just got up, did two songs, made way for the next band, and did it all over again until the cops showed up. Seeing as it was like grind and crust bands we all got to play like ten songs each anyway. Still one of the best shows I've played.

"I normally hate it when people use pedals, because it's kinda just bullshit and it's like, hiding everything and it's not pure. But I really liked when you used pedals. It seemed to add to everything rather than just making weird sounds. It was really, really cool."

- Some girl in KC that was hammered and using me to stabilize herself while saying that to me.

Normally I just get "OWWWWWWWWWW THAT WAS LOUD" or "WHAT", so this was a nice change of pace.

I don't even listen to crust/grind but I wish I was there.

The worst part about being in all absurdly loud bands is that I usually can't hear the person telling me the cops are here. One time, I was playing on someone's back porch (terrrrrrible idea but not my house, so I truly didn't give even one fuck) and suddenly I'm feeling a tapping on my shoulder. It's a police officer, screaming at the top of his lungs. We stop, and he says "Y'all are WAY too loud. This has to stop, immediately. Man! Be considerate of your neighbors!" and then just kept waving his arms and saying "it's over" for like, two minutes. I believe that was the same show we blew out a 4x12 and then subsequently, one of the power tubes in my friend Parker's Bogen Challenger CHB100 (or whatever) exploded.
