I thought this too but when you watch with a kid you realize it's about 70% screaming flashing lights loud noises bright colors chaos which really gets my kid worked into a violent frenzy.

Spongebob has that effect on me, too. Too much going on.

Miyazaki. Just... Like... Show her all of his movies repeatedly. Then, when she's lulled into a false sense of security, you blast some Evangelion directly at her face, thus learning her the harsh truth of the human condition.

Wild Kratts! My 5-year-old knows more about zoology than I knew by the time I left high school. Shit, than I know NOW. Brilliant show.

Yeah, we watched Spirited Away the other day and I've never seen someone go from delighted to horrified and back again so quickly.

Kids need to experience some horror and be challenged.

Within reason. Maybe. No. Fuck reason.

Mmhmm. This is what parents are for, sure.
I did watch Pixar's Inside Out with my wife this week...holy shit, what a sad flick. Very good, though.

This is relevant to my interests.
My daughter's 3 1/2 and we don't regularly watch tv. I put it on if she's sick and we've recently given her a tablet for long car rides.
I've really limited what I give her because I don't want to watch a bunch of garbage to vet it before she sees it. She hasn't really been into most of the cartoons but she likes Mr. Rogers and the Muppet Show.

My daughter has watched My Neighbor Totoro a bunch of times now. She got a little bit scared the first couple of times but she stuck with it and she loves it. I guess we'll move on to some of the others before long.

Go for Ponyo and Kiki's delivery service next, they're the most colourful, upbeat ones, without any violence and such.
Also, fuck yes, Pingu!

Whenever I have a kid, I think I'll probably have a hard time not starting them on Adventure Time way early.
Also, Inside Out is fantastic, but yes, it'll make you weep.
