25 teeth pulled! (baby teeth wouldn't come out and my mouth was too small...at least 10 were permanent but can't remember the exact number I think it was 8 "molars" and 4 other permanent). I had 6 wisdom teeth, 4 on top, and 2 growin horizontally. Spent so much time in braces just to get single row of teeth. Haven't been to a dentist in 10 years but still haven't had a cavity (that I know of) or a tooth ache.

They need to take out my wisdom teeth (4 and 2 are growing horizontally) + root canal + 3 cavities and other stuff since the bones are weak (blah, blah). I dont know whats worse. I havent been in 9 years and went for a cleaning thinking i had a couple of cavities and then this massive stuff

The wisdom teeth thing I had to get taken care of...they were pushing my other teeth and growing abcesses. They actually started messing with my ears and made me partially deaf in one (like going over the moutains or something). When they told me that they could attach to my jaw and I would have to break it to get them out I pushed and found a oral surgeon that would do it (they were close). Plus I had those crazy ghost teeth.
First guy wanted $6000+ to do it but we finally found a guy that would do it for half...which made me nervous, but did what I had to do. Insurance wouldn't cover it because the wisdom teeth were "cosmetic"....yea, a cosmetic thing that was infected and putting pressure on my eustation tubes (braces were partially covered though). Anyway, had to wait a year to roll over into a new dental plan before I could get the cheap price...sucks. The cheap guy did a really good job.
It's too freaking expensive for something this important...man, I feel for you. This whole thing sucks. A good dentist should help you prioritize though...like my wife found a dentist and the lady hooked her up by just fixing the tooth so that it was functional until she could afford to replace it (her molar shattered when she bit into an extra hard peanut...totally random thing). It was like $80 which is so cheap. She went back down once school was done and got it all the way fixed (capped I think).
When I was a kid and I was getting my first permanent teeth pulled because my mouth was too small, I guess I had built up a tolerance for novacaine...and I felt everything. I was a tall, skinny, strong kid (like 5'-11" or something in jr high...didn't get much taller...6'-1" or something now haha)...and I told the detist, "like hey, I just felt you pulling a tooth and it hurts (but angrier...got into a fist fight with a little league coach once...totally not angry like that any more though)". He called me a liar so I started trying to punch him haha...like, why would I lie?
He got all those giant assitants over and they carried me to a secret room and straped me to a chair. Then they held my mouth open with this like locking pliers or something. No more novacaine or anything though. So Ii started to kick and broke the tool that was holding my mouth open...snapped it. Dentist unstraps me and drags me out to the waiting room and yells for my mom...said "Get this kid out of here...I left some roots in his mouth when I broke the teeth....I can't deal with him" and stormed off....
Oh man, I was in trouble haha. That dentist sucked though. I found a good one after that (the one my mom went to...guy before was a pediatric dentist). Everything went smooth afterward. Dude actually listened. I really don't mind the dentist at all (guess I have been there enough)...but damn, that guy sucked (I had been going there at least twice a year my whole life up until then too...dude knew me well because my teeth were so crooked...orthodontist knew me well too).

You should have bit at, kicked, and punched his balls off. What a cunt!
I recall a similar situation at the orthodontist. I was like: "THIS FUCKING HURTS AND I CAN'T BREATHE" "Oh no. You'll be fine, five more minutes" I threw up on their floor the next minute.
Luckily I have a high pain tolerance that goes hand in hand with needles. I'll let dentists work on my mouth without anything to numb/dull the feelings and pain.

I have a really high pain tolerance too...but jeez, pulling teeth is something haha. Like I've broken so many bones and just gone about my day. Nearly cut off my finger and just taped it and went back to band practice. I broke my own toes once when I missed stopping a goal once (I was a stopper, and I kicked the goal post pissed...then played the rest of the game and I think I got the guy that scored back by shattering his shin guard and fracturing his shin...sports were something I had to get away from haha)
You know what might've been what made it worse was the pulling. Those were fresh, healthy teeth and they didn't want to leave (which is probably why he cracked them). He had to bear down on me with his elbox for leverage...that probably just made me nervous and made the pain seem worse. But yea...I think I scared the crap out of a grown man as a 13 year old haha.
Orthodontists...man, I know what you mean there too...like tinker tinker, look up my nose for 30 minutes while I criticize your brushing. haha. That guy would put me through some stuff...like chains all over the place, pull here, pull there...gums swollen over the brackets from all the movement...guess he got the job done though
All that anyone asks is to listen...but I think (talking to my dr. wife) is that a good majority of people are such wusses that they cry with the slightest bit of discomfort...so they end up getting kind of calous...I know that when I slipped my disc and pinched my nerve this last time and my arm was going numb (and I lost a ton of my deltoid) they acted like I was a weakling and gave me a lidoderm patch...like just refer me to physical therepy...I don't even want pain meds...

My teeth were covered in cement bite blockers by that asshole. I still think there's some on my teeth. They pulled out my retainer mold crooked to I ended up with a crooked retainer, couldn't use that shit ever. My teeth went back to how they were but now my molars are fucking out of alignment and my bite wasn't very good to begin with.
My biggest peeve though, which I already mentioned is when I do go to the dentist and they make remarks about my bite. Fuck you you fucking recent med school graduate, I had braces but the orthodontists didn't fucking know what he was doing with my mouth. Just like how the orthodontist made comments about your dental hygiene. DUMBASS MOTHERFUCKERS, denists cannot perfrom orthodontic work and vice versa for orthodontsists.

Thank behemoth (or whoever) I didn't have to go through that bit blocker stuff...jeez. This guy just let me wear my teeth down haha...Got one k9 shorter than my other teeth now and the other side is extra sharp from the weird bite which leads me to the story below...
That orthodontist had a brushing station...every kid that came in he made go use these disposable brushes and rebrush...I think it was a power trip...best part is that my dentist never said anything and I've never had a cavity. Dentist said my hygenie was perfect haha.
When I got my next dentist via walk in (days before e-records haha) he was like "Is your orthodontist this dude?" and I said "Yea, how did you know?"..."Your facial line and bite looks like all of his patients, exactly the same...he doesn't take into account people's faces...just makes teeth straight"...could just be high-ego dudes talkin' shit in shop (like tradesmen going off about craftmenship and stuff) but now when I look at pictures and stuff I can see the slight change in my face. Whether it is the orthodontist's fault, or I just got older...no one will know, but I can help but think that. (and my teeth are techically straight, but worn on one side haha).
The retainer thing...same thing here...gave me one, asked why I wasn't wearing it and I showed him. Said oh well, it's not going to work with your mouth, throw it away. We'll deal with that in your twenties he said...yea right. My teeth work and are straight enough. I'm good.
Yea, the talking out of bounds thing is like when a nurse criticizes you or starts asking questions about this and that...none of their damn business, I'm here for to get a PT appointment. Stopped going to the doctor because of the guilt these people lay on me for eating sandwiches instead of salad or some crap...haha

Weird.
Yeah I similarly always had to brush at my orthodontist too. Probably just coz they didn't wanna smell nasty breath but fuck 'em.
Like the guitar tech that gives every guitar a shredder setup on the nut when half the guitars don't call for setup like that. Ends up with half his customers coming back coz they're fretting out at the first fret on their jazzbox or hollowbody.
Sheer incompetence is what we experienced right there.
I've figured out how to work around just about any question a doctor throws at me to not get criticized for my answers.
Holy fuck daseb.
