Re: Jury Duty
I got called once, but I was on tour for three months so the date came and went before I ever saw the letter. Never did anything about it and nothing ever came of it.

Re: Jury Duty
In the UK you have to attend and can only put it off once and only for good reason. Tell them your going on holiday the Saturday after your 2 weeks is up and they wont put you on any cases that last that long, bosh done. Bring lots of books/movies and a comfortable cushion to sit on.
Im not back. Im just front

Re: Jury Duty
I got called once and made it through the first round of selection. The case was against a man accused of sexual assault by 3 separate girls -- when they asked if I thought I would have trouble being impartial I honestly answered that I had doubts I could be and was let go right away.

Re: Jury Duty
down here it's like $150 for your first mishap and doubles for each offense...you'll definitely never get locked up for this shit but you WILL get taxed. I got so lucky recently, had this missed jury duty thing from over 4 years ago but at the beginning of the session the judge gave a deal and asked if you wanted to plead guilty to contempt straight away and pay a fixed fine of $175 cause it was sooo packed (because of all the shit I pulled I easily owed them 1k, I was a dumb fuckin kid) anyways I took that and a dude who was basically in the same situation as me/didnt take the deal got fined $750. anyways.....it's not at serious as getting locked up but you gotta pay. don't try and vs the judge if you don't have a lawyer friend with you.
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

Re: Jury Duty
I ended up having to sit on a trial for gun possession. It was kind of stupid. The guy ended up getting let off because most of the jurors were skeptic as hell about cops. Basically since the guy got patted down twice and they found 2 keys on a small ring on the second pat down the other jurors clearly jumped to the conclusion that the cops planted these keys on this dude.
I used half the paycheck just for parking in downtown, so that kind of sucked.
I think the best part was finding my cousin at the courthouse for jury duty and then we got called to the same courtroom. Except he didn't have to sit on a boring trial!!!

Re: Jury Duty
I got called in once when I was in school. It was during finals so I went to the courthouse before class and was like "um, I'm in the middle of finals..." Lady gave me my receipt as having done my shit and all's good for 10 years or whatever it is.

I was summoned once while I was, ahem, spreading democracy in the Middle East. I was told I would have to decline.
