"you are like a sound wizard"

which is kind of bitter-sweet to me because I hardly do anything out of what would be considered "ordinary" here  but it was nice to hear

I like it when people say nice things, even if it makes me a little uncomfortable getting praise. I like it when a lot of people get up and dance, that's a nice compliment.

The best thing I've ever heard though was from my old music teacher. The guy is super talented and a ridiculous perfectionist (for the biggest gig I ever played we were doing 3 songs, and we practiced those 3 songs for hours every day for weeks getting them to the point where he was happy). He's a real hardass to anybody he thinks isn't doing their best, and after a gig where he saw our band he told me he liked my guitar playing. Meant a lot to me, because he's influenced the way I think about playing music quite a bit. Especially since I played bass in the school bands he was in charge of and guitar was just what I did for fun on my own!

I always laugh when I play out with my electro project, called Vexed Wuv, and people ask us, "what kind of music do you play/ what do you guys sound like. " the response aftere seeing us play is usually, " I don't know what the hell you guys sound like!?!?" I still get a kick out of that.

i'm so shit at taking compliments i just say thank you, blush and pee on myself a little.

i just act oblivious at GrrL Flirty Time. it was fun to explore as a kicken, i'd never sleep around on my grrL though.

"wow your hands are so big and STRONG."

"thanks! my mom had big hands too. thank her!"

".... you FINGER so fassssst!"

"it REALLY helps during quick time button mashy stuff like God Of War!"

"........... vagina?"

i was never into banging random grrLs at shows though. only did it a few times. meh. not for me.

This.

When I played in a post-hardcore band, I had several people tell me my toanz made them want to switch to single coils. That was pretty cool.

Something to the effect of "You guys made me totally rethink what i've been doing with pedals" made me feel super special.

Also one time someone told me i play like John Deacon from Queen.

Someone told me I sounded like Peter Murphy once.

Another person said my shoegazey band reminded him of an early Stone Roses gig, which was awesome.

I think one of the reasons I get so many toan compliments is how my rig looks When people see 3 cool looking amps on top of 3 huge cabs, my theory is that they decide it is going to sound good ahead of time. We get a loot of looks (and concerned sound guy conversations) while we are setting up and have not even played a note yet. So unless we do something totally terrible the perception is that we sound good.
I think we DO sound good and there are reasons why we haul as much gear around as we do but your average person might not pick u on all that.
