Cool! Thanks for the great suggestions JD.

Yeah, convention is at ah,... the America Centre?? Can't remember. But downtown yes.

Also really dig doing "stuff that locals do" - that's my favourite part of travelling. And people watching. Might buy some gear if I can as you guys pay about one tenth as much for musical equipment as we do in Sweden.

Yeah, Pi is awesome. So is Plush as mentiond.

Delmar area is pretty cool in general if you get a chance to go out in the evenings. A little west of the city but one of the better hang out spots. Blueberry Hill and Cicero's have an awesome beer selection and Blueberry is like a museum of oddities, def worth seeing.

City Museum is kick ass and right downtown near the convention center. Like a modern art adult playground of sorts, serve beer, food, play movies on a big screen outside. Probably the most uniquely cool place in the city.

Soulard (south city) is great too. Venice Cafe is another insane bar you have to see. I love Square One Brewery in Lafayette Square nearby as well, lots of great beer and a cool centrally located spot. Try the Beermosa, it's spectacular. Nice place called the Chocolate Bar nearby too.

Not many decent gear stores, most have been mentioned like J. Gravity and Killer Vintage. Eddie's is down there too if you like super high end gear and a semi-decent pedal collection relatively speaking. Worth looking at if you don't have shit to do.

If you like incredible eating, for dinner or whatever, Sidney Street, Mosaic, Modesto, Vin De Set, 1111 Mississippi, Salt, Niche, Oceano, the list goes on and on. Lots of great restaurants downtown!

Oh, Forest Park is cool too! Contains an amazing Art Museum and Zoo (both of which are FREE to visit!) amongst other attractions.

St Louis update:
Couldn't get anything central in my price range, got a booking at the Comfort Inn, Central West End. I plan to spend as little time as possible at the hotel so I don't really care about that, but it seems to be relatively close to downtown, and relatively close to the cool places out west (work will pay for the taxi anyways). Gonna be there from the 26th of May to the 2nd of June. Dunno what my work schedule looks like yet, but hope to have time to catch a show or beers with dudes!

This is the obligatory "can you tell I've never been to the States before" question: Hotel is 4 miles from the conference centre. That's a distance I'd normally walk here in Sweden (or at least consider doing depending on the weather) but is like walking a done thing in the US? All I can think of when I think of transportation in the US is this

Which is obviously extremely well grounded in reality.... :picard:

there are a bunch of really decent craft brewers in STL - Perennial, Urban Chestnut, Civil Life, Four Hands...finding good beer should not be a problem.

for pubs, i really like O'Connells. the Scottish Arms is also great, but a little more upscale (but it's in the CWE near your hotel).

lots of damn good restaurants, too - Brasserie, Five, Niche...i could go on & on...

the decent gear shops have been mentioned.

the U-City loop has been mentioned. there's also a lot to do on South Grand.

Thanks man - craft brewed beer is in its infancy here in Sweden, so in the least alcoholic way possible, I'm so looking forward to drinking some local brews. Probably the one thing I really am looking forward to.

Haha. I dunno if I'd shoot him to Cherokee if he's never been here. I dig it, I lived off Indiana and Cherokee for like a year...but it can be a bit sketchy lol.

If you arent going to be here long I would prolly sidestep all the small random stuff we dig and hit the main deals like the zoo, art museum, and city museum. City Museum is sooooo much fun. And they serve alcohol. :thumb:

Alright, My body thinks it's 1am but I'm off to explore St. Louis. Heading out for pizza at Pi. Looking forward to my first American food experience not involving Chicago O'Hare. Have to check out my "agenda builder" later but looks like I'll be free Friday night if anyone wants to meet a random Internet guy.

Hmm...

That sounded shifty. I'm leaving it for posterity.

The pageant (a venue) is right across the street. it's pretty cool if there are any bands of interest playing. I saw Portugal. The Man and some other guys I'm forgetting the name of and a local band. They all did great too. Good show
