i think it coulda been way worse.

first half is kinda bland and samey and drag on way too long, but the last 3-4 tracks rule hard.

it feels like each track was written like... 2 years after the other leading up to 2012 so its like an archaeological dig of writing, which is good and bad, imo. i tend towards bad cuz its like... half an album of what becomes essentially filler when you consider the second half of it. hell if the second half was maybe scattered more evenly the album would flow better. but as of now, my enjoyment of this album is more... logarithmic as opposed to Loveless' pretty consistent streak

Thanks man, I on it now. Sounding pretty good so far but nothing that sounds like it should have taken 20+ years to make.

I also saw this and thought it was pretty funny.

100% this. You would also think that after all those years there would have been some sort of evolution...

Anyone else think that it's weirdly contemporary? Like instead of MBV it sounds like something one of the bands that have cropped up recently that are "inspired" by MBV would put out.

Simulacra of simulacra of simulacra and all that.

I still haven't given it a listen. I've been watching Twin Peaks for the last two days trying to get the whole series down, and haven't sat down for the album.

Fucking love that show. Shitty ending, but hey, what can you do. First season rules hard.

I gave it a listen, once around I liked it overall, enough for me to order the vinyl.

i think there is. i keep on saying that each song feels like it was written two years after the last one, which is probably why i like the last 3rd or 4th of the album more than the rest

But all analog means nothing to me since I'll only ever listen to it on CD and mp3.
