Own a 1200 sq foot house on a 1/2 acre lot, decent for being in the middle of town. It feels preety private, no neighbors behind me because the back of the property is on an alley. I can't see my neighbors on the sides. Mortgage and all utilities are about$1200 a month. My neighbor across the road is an old bass player, we talk about gear and stuff.

2 bed/2 bath duplex. $750 + utilities, split between 2 people. My neighbors are fairly cool so we don't usually get bothered when practicing. The house is right across from a community college and in walking distance of almost anything/everything. The landlord doesn't even have late fees...at least he doesn't enforce them.

Apartment, about 600 sq ft; mortgage, taxes and utilities come in at € 725 a month. For sale sign has been hanging on my window for the past 2 years, had all of 1 viewer. Mainly want to move to a bigger place and a different part of town. But given the state of the market that will likely take years.

Damn, the average downtown condo rent in Austin is like 2g's... I have a 2 story 1 bed 1.5 bath loftish 4 plex in South Austin that's a lil over 800 sqft and $750 a month... My landlord is cool, I've been here over 5 years and I can usually be as loud as I want... I live close to nature and can walk to anything...

We own a house. Just short of 1900 sq ft. Built in 1920. Postage stamp city lot. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 9.5ft ceilings, hard wood floors throughout, 5 fireplaces

$710/month.

Gonna refi soon. Payment will drop below $500/month, and we'll get about $20k cash for energy efficiency upgrades (need 19 new windows, a $4k front door, a roof, and I have no insulation in my attic).

All of my weekends are spent doing home improvement, or building pedals. :)

i "own" an house, which is to say that i reside in a house of approximately 760 square feet in a lovely and delightful location perched on the side of a creek in the redwoods in which i have no equity whatsoever and which has a $485,000 mortgage. if the mortgage was not in unemployment-based forbearance at the moment the total (interest-only) payment would be in the neighborhood of $2250/mo., which was only affordable when my ex was still here. paradoxically, i have to find a job so i can move into a cheaper place, since my current unemployment-adjusted payments are $97.50/mo.

Married White Male

Rent $775 a month. Responsible for all utilities + putting furnace oil in the tank.

2 Bedroom 1 Bath (two bathrooms if you count the deteriorating one in the basement). I think it's somewhere around 2500 sq feet plus a detached garage.

$450/month, 2 roommates, not counting utilities. Very spartan living space.

100% occupancy is fucking awful.

Holy shit, I pay way more rent for way less than lots of you. Oh well, I guess that's what I get for living in BC, home of million dollar crack shacks.

after the disastrous roommate thing i just went through with an old friend, my policy now is that i won't live with anyone i'm not sleeping with. it's just too much trouble to put up with someone else's eccentricities unless i'm deeply emotionally enough involved with them that i can be honest, forthright, and leave the bedroom door open so the cat can get in and out at night. and i absolutely have to be able to be myself and do the things i do without interference...i will no longer put up with shit about smoking dope, playing electric guitar at midnight, or listening to Raw Power on my morning commute. buy some fucking earplugs: this is who i am. learn to enjoy "If They Move, Kill 'Em" or go out to the grocery store.
