Sometimes they are a little muddy. Mostly they have a nice low mids growl.
Coil tap as well so thats helpful for chords.
I really want to try alumitones though.

Sounds like a fucking piano
The Alumitones are incredible, even through a small 5w combo. This is my first luthier-made instrument, and I don't think I'll be buying off the shelf guitars any time soon. This thing is unbelievable.

A luthier from Bosnia. There seems to be something wrong with his web site, but he's got a lot of pics on his FB profile: https://www.facebook.com/mk.guitars?fref=tsBoatRich wrote:Dude that thing is gorgeous!! Who built it?

I'm so sad, I got this new bass VI sitting there in dying need of a setup and work on it, but the only good tech in the area is overwhelmed atm and can't take it before another 2 weeks...

Why not do it yourself?

Re: Let's see your BASS VI, people
hehe, I almost didn't turn it, it was actually simply too old and rusty ('74 Ripper). a luthier fixed it well, but I'll never recover from the trauma
