Patreon

Post by oldangelmidnight »

I've been backing a few projects via Patreon and I mostly like the model. I give to webcomics and podcasts that make their stuff available for free. That feels so much better than buying merch or listening to ads.

To hype one podcast in particular that's trying to get together funding to continue: Kreative Kontrol is an excellent music interview show. The host talks to members of interesting indie/punk bands in a conversational way. I'm not sure what his backstory is but he talks like someone who's been involved in music for a while and can be comfortable just chatting with artists. I'd be sad if he stopped making it.

I like the concept of Patreon, though I've never dug in to really explore. This seems like it would be a good place to start.

As for Vish from Kreative Kontrol, it looks like he's got quite a solid history of music writing / support in his native Canada: http://vishkhanna.com/about/
