Where would I go about getting an aluminum neck for a bass vi? I really want to build a second with a wood body and aluminum neck.

Egc makes 30" aluminum necks. For like a grand probably. I dunno who else does but goddamn that would be awesome.

I saw a dude playing a travis bean 4 string through a rusty box/preamp rig into an Ampeg V6 215 and almost cried it sounded so good. I'm determined to get one now with jazz antiquity's, an aluminum neck, a natural finish, tuned drop C#

When I saw Austerity Program the Bass and guitar were both Travis beans and it was the best live tone I ever heard.

That's what I'm trying to do. Pickup a second Squier, buy aluminum neck, convert to hardtail, add new pickups. I think jazzmaster or p90 style ones would be the best bet. I like the quarter pounder jag pickups I have now, but something with slightly less output might help.

WHK what amp are you using? What pickups do you generally use?
I have an old acoustic 140 head into a emperor 1x18. I like grindy sounds on bass, but I think this rig really brings out the thump from an inherently middy/trebly instrument.

so my 97 japanese arrived today. Looks mint, that's impressive. Even the strings feel new lol. Except they are really shitty gauges, I actually first tuned the low E an octave higher, because it was so floppy at the right octave I couldn't believe it. So now I'm waiting on the new strings. I'm having a problem with the bridge though, but that may be because I'm a bassist and never had a moving tremolo bridge before? :idk: It keeps moving, and it's being "pulled" away from the the neck. So there's a big angle, and the strings are actually "touching" the adjustment screws. That can't be right, but what am I missing? If I simply pull the bridge back in place, it'll fall away again after playing for a while. Note this isn't the same bridge as the Squier one, it's supposed to be the "right one".

am I missing something or what? :?:

I'll bring it to my setup guy once I got the strings on it anyway because I couldn't setup an instrument if my life depended on it, but this bridge problem is too strange to me. here are pics with both positions of the bridge. both are taken with the bass laying flat and the camera laying on it. you can see the problem in the bottom picture.

Finished my Jet king bass vi conversion yesterday. So much fun this thing.

It is weird though cause i put the circle k .102 set on it and it seems like its just barely tight enough on the low e. I can't imagine how anything lighter would work.
