Torns Peaker/Aenima question

Post by Pete »

Hey guys, I was thinking of picking up a Big Distortion Sound Machine while this cool pedal is still available, and I had a question about the TP/AE side of it. The TP/AE knob morphs into the Aenima circuit as it's turned clockwise, right? I'm guessing around 12:00 is when the Aenima comes into play-so half of the gain knob is for the Torns Peaker, and half is for the Aenima? Correct me if I'm wrong. I was wondering if the pedal contains the full amount of gain from the texture/pregain knobs from the original Torns Peaker and Aenima pedals, or if it's a condensed amount of gain available (like from 12:00-5:00 of the texture/gain knob from the originals). Hope this makes sense.

I havent looked at the BDSM, but in the diy combos of this pedal, the knob to morph between the two has nothing to do with the pregain control. It just acts as a bias control on the first stage. You pregain control will still have full range.

Oh I see. I guess it's probably the Zazz knob that controls the pregain. Thanks

:thumb: as far as I can tell, that's how it works. Of course, changing the bias will also some times alter the gain and or tone of the circuit.
They all work together harmoniously :zen:

I'm on my tablet and can't get the in-line video working but here is a pretty awesome demo and it explains what's going on in the pedal

The "Zazz" is the texture control from the TP or AE. Then the TP/AE knob does indeed roll from TP to AE. There's no pregain controls on our TPs, AEs, TP/AE, or BDSM. (excepting, of course, the gain knob on the ruiner portion of the BDSM)
Damn that's a lot of capitol letter codes.

Anyway, I'm sure there are plenty of those circuits out there with a pregain added, and probably a fair few with the texture erroneously labeled. Does that make any sense?
