I see what you're saying. It was slightly disconcerting for me, too, at first. But, I think once you let that go, and settle into the show, it becomes a lot of fun. And, like wafl pointed out, the absurdity and awkwardness are a large part its charm.

We finished the show. My wife says that she likes the show better. I still like prefer the movie, if only for the sex scene.
