I'm eating the gyro-flavored ones right now, and they taste like gyros in every way except for the texture. It's really weird. The same's true for the reuben ones.

I've decided to go vegan after I've bulked up a little. I'm sick of supporting animal cruelty, but I'm also sick of resembling a growth-stunted slenderman.

Youu looking for a particular kind of mass?
I mean there's plenty of calorie dense vegan options if you are just wanting raw mass

those chip ain't vegan, but you can sure get ones that are and ohh, they'll have all the fatty kcals you could want

hmmm, I don't get it. I mean I get the classic joke, but i don't get how it applies.

my not being able to understand yours seems different than the issue you were having with mine.

It's not really calories that I'm looking for, it's protein. It's a lot easier to build muscle when you're not restricted to vegetarian options (I also hate that protein powder stuff).

Mmmmmmm, I think I'll do the same.
Walken in LA: Hot Dogs

By Christopher Walken

Do you enjoy eating hot dogs? I hope you won't be put off by my frankness when I tell you that I absolutely love them. In fact, I enjoy no food item more than a freshly-boiled hot dog. Now, I've done a lot of movies, and it's true that I've worked with quite a few celebrities who did not share this opinion. I'm sorry to say that these people have always angered me.

There are two types of people in this world: those who eat hot dogs whenever it is possible to do so, and those who opt to do other things with their free time. Who do the latter think they are kidding? What pastime could be more rewarding than the consumption of hot dogs? I haven't yet found one, and I don't expect to in my lifetime. Unlike other foods, hot dogs can be eaten at any time, in any place, and it is not necessary to cook them. Now, I ask you: Why not eat hot dogs? They are delicious.

I carry a bag of hot dogs with me wherever I go. I eat them from the bag \ whenever I get the urge, regardless of the circumstances. When I make a movie, my hot dogs are my co-stars. If, in the middle of a scene, I decide I want to consume a hot dog, I do so. I waste the director's time and thousands of dollars in film stock, but in the end, it is all worth it, because I enjoy eating hot dogs more than I enjoy acting. This bothers some people. I was supposed to portray Batman, but when Tim Burton learned of my hot dog cravings, he asked Michael Keaton to wear the cape. To this day, I am peeved about this.

When we filmed The Dead Zone, I ate over 800 hot dogs a day. It was necessary. My character needed to come across as intense as possible, and I found the inspiration for that intensity in my intense love for hot dogs. The director, David Cronenberg, said that he would never work with me again. I kept eating hot dogs when the cameras were rolling, and that seemed to bother him. I say fuck him. He doesn't even like hot dogs.

I would like to end by emphasizing once again that I really like to eat hot dogs. If any of you people disagree, I loathe you. I despise you. Not only that, but I also despise all your loved ones. I want to see them torn to pieces by wild dogs. If I ever meet you in person, I'll smash your brains in with a ucking bat. Then we'll see who doesn't like hot dogs.

Next week: My thoughts on Woody Allen, hot dog hater and shitty director.

oh, so you want muscle mass, not just raw mass.

then you should probably put those chips down. Oh, they'll "bulk you up" alright...just not the way you are looking for.

have a pressure cooker? if you are going vegan, get a pressure cooker

if you do decide to make the vegan leap, I've got some good, higher protein recipes.

If it's mainly a cruelty issue, have you considered raising chickens?

"The gradual vegetarian" is a decent old-school book to easy the way.
"Vegan cooking for carnivores" is more new school. I'ts OK, but it's a little more color photo, show off individual recipes type thing as opposed to an overall technique/process book. So I don't think it's the go-to it's more of an interesting supplement

I'm keeping track of my calorie input, so, I'm allowing myself to have some snacks as long as I stay on track. :snax:

Raising chickens isn't really an apartment-friendly activity, and it's not really that vegan-friendly either. Also, I have experience with chickens, pigs, and goats, and I don't really want to raise my own produce ever again.

that's why I asked if it was a cruelty issue. You were talking about going vegan due to cruelty, and in those cases home sourced ovo-veggie is an option with a decent protein profile.
If you are going vegan for other reasons, of course that doesn't apply (I assume you know those chips aren't vegan)

One thing I find with dietary transitions is that it's a matter of getting the palate used to the new way. Personally, i avoid the junk food snacks when revising diet, they are built to trip your triggers (fat, salt all that...they are "fictional" balances that 'taste better than food' as they say). esp when trying to change my fitness level (I keep the snacks lean protein and green veg so that I'm getting actual nutrition out of the calories...during those times I pretty much work off a nutritional density per cal type choice and I concentrate on the micronutrients..when I do, the macros tend to take care of themselves. Anyway, that's what works for me when I'm getting ready for an athletic season
YMMV (I'm all for individual choices, I just don't really think there's a total one-size fits-all with diet. It varies across the planet)

and if you are under 35 it's a shitload easier that's for sure to modulate some of this stuff

Yup, I know that pretty much everything I eat has been murdered. It's going to be a huge transition.

Definitely know what you're talking about with snacking. It's a lot easier to stick to your goals when you aren't craving chocolate/donuts/candy/etc. I'll check out that diet when I get closer to my goal, though. It might make the transition a little easier.

yeah, basically with everything but fruit you're doing the other one in. Though I just, personally don't get how fruitarian diets are nutritionally practical. Not dising, if someone can pull it off more power to em! I just don't know if I could make it actually work from a health perspective
