Congratulations! I had a DR-Z400. Looking at a FZ-07 for my next bike.

so my roommates buddy was over and we were all drinking beers and laughing about stuff, and we started talking about his motorcycle and how he wants to get rid of it cuz he never rides it. so bam, i have a motorcycle now.

its a 750, which i feel like is big for my first real bike, but all my biker buddies said it will be fine. i am hoping this will be my commute solution, as i only live 20 minutes from my office, but i am across the bay bridge in Oakland. it never fucking rains here so, thats a plus. god DAMN im gonna save so much on gas and travel expenses.

now i need to get a helmet that isnt lame. should i get chaps? i should get chaps

it needs a little work, but thats good, i need to learn how to work on a bike like this anyway. nothing major. it runs. those old hondas are reliable, or so ive read.

I thought you said you didn't want to be lame?

And, 750 isn't too bad for a cruiser. Just don't act a fool.

i think i have a healthy bit of fear in me. my main concern is the shitty driving of bay area drivers.

I've heard the Bay Bridge is challenging. So, use caution there, for sure.

Yeah Hondas are very reliable. Look after them and they will run for ages. See if your buddy will let you take it for mechanical checkout and a compression test. If the compression is good and there is no problems with the engines bottom end is good then you will get years of reliability out of it. They are the Toyotas of the motorcycle world.
And if you paint it red it will go faster. Just so you know I'm a small engine mechanic by trade. If you were in Australia I'd check it all out for you. :thumb:
And be safe out there.
