Let's talk uber-muffs

I've had my Twosome back on my board for a couple of months since my Pharaoh still needs to be sent off to Mark for repair and a general once-over. After having used the Fix'd like twice in that time, for tones I can cop better with the Sound Shank or Ritual, I'm back on the 'stop being a sentimental goober and sell the Twosome' train.

I love my Musket, and my initial thought is to just get another one - but other than the Musket and Pharaoh, I've never played any of the other muff variants out there.

That's where you lot of villains come in. Help point me in the right direction. Right now (having done no research whatsoever) the ones that have my attention are the Musket (or Blunderbuss), Hoof, Cloven Hoof, Supercollider, Badascan (Pharaoh/LSTR hybrid), or maybe a Marsh Chapel if I can find one. I tend to like my muff tones closer to fuzz than distortion if that's any help. I typically play stoner/doom stuff with a Les Paul or SG Classic through an Ampeg GVT15 or an Earth Original 2000.

I haven't tried too many either, I kinda have a love/hate thing with muffs. I just can't get them to cut through in a band, at least not unless I tweak it to the point where it hardly sounds like a muff anymore.

Anyway, pedals that always get mensioned in muff threads, besides the one you already mensioned: Bluebeard, Megalith. And Basic Audio, SUF, and Wren@Cuff supposedly make killer muffs as well.

I used to have a '70s BMP, a LSTR, Swollen Pickle MKII, Sovtek,...And maybe one or two other, can't remember right now.

And right now I've got a Musket, which is the closest I got to really liking a big muff. I still think it's not THE type of distortion pedal for me though. Does the job for leads, but for anything else but single notes I'd rather use a good distortion or maybe a tonebender type fuzz or something.

I might get a Hoof myself, to a/b it with the Musket. But I'm close to the point where it's just about tiny subtle differences, I doubt I'll ever become a huge big muff fan

Forgot about the Megalith. How did the LSTR stack up against the Musket? I had forgotten about the Trifecta as well - I'll be keeping an eye out for those too.

No clue - maybe that Gnomertron pedal? As long as it brings giant walls of muffy goodness, I'm not overly concerned with versatility.

I was gonna suggest the Blunderbuss, in the doom room, but had the feeling you wanted to move away from that. Let me ask, have you really given the Fix'd side a chance? It took me a long while to warm up to it. And, it still fights me sometimes. (Much different than the Musket side, that always seems eager to please.) But, now, I almost love it. It is very different than the Musket side. And, that makes the Twosome a winner for me.

I've had this particular Twosome since like 2010. I've gone through periods of time where I've put a lot of time into finding tones I like in the Fix'd, and even though there are some good ones in there, I just don't use it. The Blunderbuss has my attention - I need to check out some clips of it. The hybrid design may increase the fuzzy character of the Musket.

Of course, I gotta get off my ass and sell this Twosome before any of this can happen.

When I allow myself to buys muffs again, the sarcophagus is HIGH on my list. LSTR and Pharaoh in one...

Supercollider remains my favorite though.

Maybe finding a non muff pedal and dialing it in to a sound similar to a muff would work for you.
Something with a few more EQ options such as a EQD Talons
