Anything similar to a JUPITER III ?
I am curious about this thing but wanted to know if there were any other similar products worth looking at? Unfortunately, doing a google search for " analog drum synth" or something along those lines simply brings up "normal" drum machines.

Electro Faustus makes that little drum box, add a trogotronic 669 or effects pedals after it?

Re: Anything similar to a JUPITER III ?
I am interested in knowing if there are any similar products that I can compare so that I can make an educated purchase. I don't wanna buy a Jupiter iii and find out there is something that I might enjoy more or is a better value etc.Chankgeez wrote:So, you don't wanna actual JUPITER III, just something like it?
Thanks LG, I will check into that.

The Drum Thing is a piezo in a box, I think? Awesome piece of kit, though.

As far as I can tell it is. But it looks nice haha. With an envelope of some kind and some unused pedals it could probably get some similar sounds. The tapping on the Jupiter III is just a piezo too triggering effects as far as I can tell.D.o.S. wrote:The Drum Thing is a piezo in a box, I think? Awesome piece of kit, though.

drum box and 669 would be absolutely fucking nuts. pricey as shit tho. you can build a drum box so EZ, too. personally haven't found anything quite like the j iii in all me days of googlin, I think it's a fair price tho! I skipped one on a trade a while back and regret itlordgalvar wrote:Electro Faustus makes that little drum box, add a trogotronic 669 or effects pedals after it?

Maybe try some delptronics stuff in there too. If you want the hand claps or cowbell.
I love the 669...I just keep moving/storing the adapter in weird places everytime I go through my everything has to be perfectly clean phase and forget where everytime I want to make noise. haha.

Look for Synare Sensor (and/or Synare synth drum) or Coron DS-8 clones. That's what the J3 is with a couple of additions. I love mine but I tend to replace it with an Atomosynth Mochika XL because it is much easier to sync.

I actually did find something similar but not as cool IMO. It is an out of production item as far as I can tell, for sale on Reverb right now for $250/OBO

yeah, I read your thread with your sync issues and subsequently also checked out the Mochika . Syncing wouldn't really be of concern of mine.Glenouille wrote:Look for Synare Sensor (and/or Synare synth drum) or Coron DS-8 clones. That's what the J3 is with a couple of additions. Ill check out your recommendations.

Another option is to talk to the dub circuit benders (like s-cat http://www.spacecataudiotechnologies.com) and see if they could make you an awesome one out of one of those old casio dum pad things. Or look for circuit benders in general. They'd probably come up with something pretty neat.

Re: Anything similar to a JUPITER III ?
I had a Jupiter III and flipped it pretty quickly. If you plan on running a bass or guitar through it, I wouldn't recommend it, it wasn't that "synthy". I didn't buy it for the drum function, so I don't really remember how good that sounded.
