According to science it's like free cocaine.
I just put in a bid for more than i really want to pay, so if someone snipes me they better be willing to pay a lot

My buddy did this on a different auction site and he ended up having to pay 500 dollars for a 100 dollar item because another guy did the same thing and put in a huge amount. hahaha. It's a dangerous game! LOL

I stopped going on eBay for that very reason. I don't find it thrilling, just stressful. I end up spending my whole day refreshing the page and sweating as the clock runs out. Fuck that. Give me a price and I'll pay it or move on.

i'm kinda the same way. It frustrates me too. Sometimes there ain't no price availiable for something. I haven't eaten or anything, I just come back and look.

Plus, the LAL collection wants what the LAL collection wants....

All I know is this ain't getting anywhere close to 1k ripplet land.

You know, if LAL would get the new pedals out, this wouldn't be so much of an obsession...but you know I would buy them all the day they came out.

I thought ebay got rid of the sniping thing, when I last bought something on there you would put in your max amount and then it would auto outbid anyone who bid under that, up until they bid over it

It mitigates sniping, but doesn't eliminate it. You can still catch people with a snipe that haven't increased their max bid. That's how I got my half price synth mangler.

It's more psychological than that. There is always that last second that people say like "What if it is just $10 more to outbid this guy, I can do $10".

If a whole bunch of people do that It probably raises the price a lot at the end. Also, some people do lure bids to bring people out (to see the interest) and then jump up their bid within the last 10 seconds. People always go low until they see what someone else did. Mob mentality, stretching just a little bit more to make ends meet and stuff.

As someone who sort of collects Seppuku's, I know the feels.

UG though, man. That man is such a mystery. :erm:

Ha, LAL is actually somewhat organized enough to make a collection! They didn't change much (the only changes I can think of is the footswitch and cv addition to the misty cave).

The holy grail of LAL is the Green Monster version 1. I have never even seen a picture of one that I can think of. I really wish I had got all of these back when I wanted them in 2001-2. I still kick myself for going for the E13 stuff instead a year or two later (didn't require a bank transfer back then).

Seppuku stuff is fascinating with all the variations though. I've got a little collection going there too. Oh well. I might talk myself back into the bidding war, but I doubt it.

Time for quesadillas and french fries...I think. Going to binge and cry...
