Also, been a while and my bar has changed quite a bit.
Still counting the days until I can get a few bottles of the Laphroaig Cairdeas 2015 edition.

I like the genever like Boomsma. I've been drinking Cardinal gin lately. It's good. I like the gin that has some color.
Try substituting tequila for gin in your negroni. If you like that, try a rosita.

still sounds like winnerbigchiefbc wrote:....without the club soda. Just bourbon, simple syrup and mint.
or I could just add the soda and call it a mint julepito...?
as far as whiskeys go, I'm not that much into bourbon, single malts all the way...
but bourbon is great for mixing
a couple of years ago I came into possession of some bourbon and Amaretto I didn't really know what to do with,
so I came up with the K-Ted:
Tall glass filled with crushed ice
6cl Amaretto
4cl bourbon
fill up with red wine
dash of lemon juice
If I got it just right it tasted like refreshing cherryjuice,
and my skull would split open and melt in the most agreeable fashion.
that beverage made me understand the expression "roaring drunk" it really brings out the lion-heart in you...
at my sisters wedding I remember having two of those in rapid succesion
aural conjunctions on SC

Licor 43 and half & half.
If you're feeling fancy you can make it look like a tiny beer.
Tastes like vanilla ice cream.

I've been drinking Buffalo Trace bourbon with mexican coke (the kind with the cane sugar) or Cap'n 100 proof with Goslings ginger beer. Buffalo Trace is really fucking good for a cheaper bourbon.

Ugg, I despise the regular Buffalo Trace. For a cheap bourbon, give the standard 12 yr Elijah Craig a go if you haven't tried it.BoatRich wrote:I've been drinking Buffalo Trace bourbon with mexican coke (the kind with the cane sugar) or Cap'n 100 proof with Goslings ginger beer. Re: The Liquor Thread!!!
Just got me a bottle of this;

Somewhat ironically as a treat for going 3 months without a drink, my favourite single malt.
Looking for a decent but affordable Gin for summer too for G&T... not had much experience except for cheaper ones, was considering Professor Cornelius Ampleforth Bathtub (yes, that is the name), Tanqueray or Hendricks.

I fucking love Hendricks and I'm NOT a gin guy. Monkey 47 is also pretty amazing. HATE Tanqueray.
Give Botanist gin a go. Made on Islay by Bruichladdich...it's pretty unique.

Bombay Sapphire is my go to for G&T.
Also make sure you get a name brand tonic. The generic grocery store shit does not cut it.

I was a bit annoyed I couldn't get any of the old 43% since they re-branded but sure this'll be just as nice.
Never tried Tanqueray, nice art-deco bottle, knew the name and the reviews were decent so it was on the list.
Botanist is a little above my price range, it's £10 more than Hendricks and G&T isn't really a slow drink for me so keeping it under £30.
Yeah Bombay is nice and I almost just went for it but thought i'd try something new and mebbe a bit different.futuresailors wrote:Bombay Sapphire is my go to for G&T.

UK supermarket own brand stuff isn't bad, usually just name brand shit re-branded pretty much. I'm all about the frozen lemon wedge instead of ice.
