We both would have lost sleep over that one.

More on topic, I have four awesome pedals coming in the mail in the next week or so and it actually feels like Christmas.
Last year when I bought a custom bass from Scotland, I thought I had at least a week or more to let her know about it because I had just gotten the shipping notice from the builder. Little did I know that magic fairies flew the thing across the ocean at light speed and it showed up at my door THE NEXT DAY, resulting in her having to fork out the $300 or so in duty and taxes for something she didn't expect to arrive and had no idea what it was, let alone where I got the monies from to pay for it. Needless to say, it wasn't a good evening. To say she flipped would be a gigantic understatement.

Generally though my wife is pretty cool and practical about things. She sees me drooling over pedals and other gear the past few weeks, so she says "well, maybe you just need to sell your Ric...after all, you only just use it to look good when gigging, so doesn't that make it a really really expensive accessory?". Damn, I never thought of it like that before.

True enough. From my wife's point of view I have no money to go out drinking, hanging out with the guys or finding a hottie of loose morals to whore around with. I need that money for pedals and other music related equipment/supplies!

Whores or pedals, she'll pick pedals every time!

Or is she just getting into gear?
haha, . Vagueness..."trade" was just a way to refer to the gear trade/GAS as a job with specialized skills. If I put the effort that I put into finding/researching/trying gear, I'd probably be amazing at something. haha.

Nah, she keeps talking about having kids and wanting them to play an instrument, so I kept showing her basses and she is kind of getting hooked to looking at all the different ones (I just think if you want kids that play music, you should too...). She really likes pedals now too but I think it is all a bit intimdating to her (but she was a pretty good viola player at one time, so she feels like jamming with shit skills is a bit pointless...but I keep reminding her that she likes the Ramones :idk: ). Plus, it is better than watching reruns on HGTV/DIY network.

Swingers, not a chance in hell. Divorce, not until I finish the remodeling the house but she will still need the cheap labor for yard work, chores, and random stuff (because of her long hours).

Do swingers even exist anymore :idk: . I thought all that stuff went away with Burt Reynolds, fondue parties, gold chains, mustaches, unbuttoned shirts, and the era of Gerald Ford.

Yeah I definitely thought that when sitcoms started having episodes about swinging it was pretty much over. I guess not. I often wake up with a riff to try, or something to add to what I was working on earlier. My practice space closes at 10 so i frequently spend a few hours after 10 wishing I could still be working on some songs....

Fun story about that...I got married last August, and the October before, I got a head start on "No-Shave November."
She HATED it. Like, a regular beard, cool. But I was pushing ZZ Top territory. Awesome, right?

Well she hated it, and I knew I'd have to knock it down for the wedding. So in June, two months before the wedding, the strat in my avatar popped up on Craigslist in Phoenix, a two hour drive south. I jokingly showed her the pic and joked I'd let her cut my beard if she bought it for me.

We drove down. She bought it. And slaughtered the beard that night.

My thoughts were, "well, if it's gotta go for the wedding, I may as well get a guitar out of it."

Ha! I get the opposite (mind you my beard never gets over an inch long because I start to look really rugged with all my scars and stuff). She won't let me shave. I have to have at least a 5 o'clock shadow all the time or she gets kind of mad (and that's a minimum). I gave her the bass yesterday and the first thing she said after "It's not in tune" was "This thing is badass, I need some pedals". Freaking crazy.

But congrats on getting to experience a zz top beard in your lifetime.

I'm gassing for a Korg MS20 Mini; the price for a new one has dropped to $449 street.
