Sim City on Super Nintendo

Post by Pop »

Hi.

I'm 33 years old. I played Sim City on Super Nintendo ALL THE TIME when it first came out... 1991? And I've played it a few other times over the years. I was only able to get a Megalopolis (500,000 citizens) once out of the million times I tried. I was drunk the other weekend and brought out my SNES and fired up Sim City and it's still really fun for nerdy pedant hyper-organized OCD types! I built two cities and got 500,000 pretty easily. But then I was reading online and I guess there is a SPECIAL MESSAGE that comes up when you get 600,000 citizens, and a lot of people have been able to manipulate the game into getting 700,000+. Yikes.

Anyway, I'm obsessed with it again because I'm a fucking nerd like I said. It's just a really satisfying game to play. Check out this picture (not mine):

(didn't embed because pretty big pic)

What a thing of beauty. I don't know how they did it, but look at all the R-Tops and C-Tops. Inspiring. I don't know why I'm so driven to accomplish 600 or 700 people, but I MUST DO IT.

Anyone else into this almost forgotten diamond of a game?

I played Sim City 2000 on the SNES, and it was so much fun, even though I didn't understand much of it. I just built basic cities and caused natural disasters or summoned various creatures to fuck shit up.

And I played the one that came out last year, with my gf and her brothers. Also a lot of fun, but the game was too broken (thanks EA) to really get into.

Did anyone ever use the code to start with a shitload of money? My brother would do it, but he'd never tell me how to do it. Because he was and still is: a dick.
but what are guitar pedals...really..?

Yeah I remember it being like, you had to spend all your money and have $0 when the calendar year turns, while holding L and R or something like that.

I had a Nintendo Power subscription from issue 3 to like 130. And GamePro, EGM at times. Such excitement when a new mag arrived in the mail. Good times :bear:

i went to play some snes the other day and the connection was blinky so i reached in back and twisted the coaxial connector,
and i fucking twisted it right off the back of the god damn tv. so, no video games for me.

but hell yes i do own the game and have played it a few times but i think i kinda sucked at it.
i'm more of a mario/zelda fanboy type. oh and sonic. just the top franchise character games, guess i was pretty mainstream in '91.

I've got this game, although I only acquired it relatively recently. Has anyone tried any of the iOS city building games?

Similarly, I downloaded Civ 3 the other day.

I haven't really played it much. It's such an investment of time. Maybe I'll play tonight. I need to stay up late to get my body clock ready for a weird two days.

There's also a Super Nintendo and N64 in my apartment, but the SNES has no controllers and the N64 has no games. I have the Gamecube hooked up though.
