Re: Post Your Rig: Doom Edition
I'll keep that in mind on the v6b. Glad they can be found in poor shape,or practically broken as thats pretty much how I've acquired most of my rig.
I hear most of the ampeg v series are somewhat unreliable and a pain to work on. I tend to find out the hard way, and thats the fun of it. Unfortunately I can never find a broken v4 sub $300 so I can't fucks with em.

Unreliable? I wouldn't say that. It is an amp that is hard on all of it's components, so they need upkeep more than usual. I got mine for $400, so they are out there.braaandooon wrote:I'll keep that in mind on the v6b. That Supro is so damn cool man, I wish that kind of stuff was up for grabs in Europe too. I also have a v6b and it's really cool, didn't have any problems with it either. Already had a tech look at it to see if he could spot any problems and said it was good to go. Hope it lasts! It's been some time since I've been able to crank it though

Love that Pelham Blue SG. Love that small Ampeg. Love that all.braaandooon wrote:Brought my 65' ampeg jet home from practice. She's getting new caps, 3 prong chord, and a new jensen c12n. It's time as the amp is completely stock.
Figured while I was at it I'd take a family pic.

Wish the sg was pelham blue, then that would mean I'm rolling in the dough. Its a gibby sg special limited, and its a 2001. It's actually a flip flop finish. It's pretty much my dream guitar, people think that since eddie vedder plays one that should give them the right to absolutely rape on pricing them, luckily I found one cheap.
Just getting acquainted with the supro, actually suprised that you can find alot of the valco stuff sitting around northern indiana antique shops cheap.
The supro taurus will definitely doom with the tone selector set to low bass, fucking thing is as loud as my 120w peavey.

Not sure if that was directed at me or not, but I'll weigh in anyway. They're pretty similar to my Vintage 30s, but they seem to have a crisper top end (could just be that I had that cab on top, or amp settings or something), but they're fairly comparable. I was especially impressed when running both cabs together. I think the regular V30s sound a little more lofi, but the guy who had the cab before said they were well worn in, so that might have to do with it. If I could confirm their power rating at 100W, I'd totally be into getting more (for the right price) for future cab projects that I no longer have any need for. IF they are 100W a piece, that extra headroom would be exceptionally useful.ryan summit wrote:john just gave me 4 more sheffield 1290sAncient Astronaught wrote:If only I was closer... Crosspost from the show your amp thread so sorry for spamming, but I feel like I graduated to the Doom rigs now?
I finally had all my amps in one place (and took a cheesy panorama, I'm lame like that):

And some more detailed shots for those who are interested:

I require more info on this head, this whole stack is pretty fuckin sick. You don't see many of those marshall cabs around, and I've never seen a solid state hiwatt head...Obulus wrote:
