Politics thread?

I'm just tossing this idea out there. I'm not very good at, nor do I enjoy political debates, however, occasionally some crazy shit goes down in someone's respective government.

Would anyone be opposed to having a thread where we could post petitions and information about anything that's going on? Like a thread to share articles, news stories, etc...? I don't want to just start throwing them up if anyone thinks it might not be a good idea for any reason.

Well this seems like a great idea... could have the religion and i'm going to punch you in the throat threads after that!

I'm of the opinion this is the sort of thing that should in general be kept off discussion forums (other than the occasional thread about a specific topic of interest) as while this forum is in general liberal, that doesn't mean everyone shares the same views, I doubt it'll stay on track half the time and some feels might get hurty... may lead to some breaking of the don't be an asshole rule as people get particularly riled up about politics.

Then again, who gives a shit about my view, go ahead y'all.

Well all I wanted to post was some info and maybe petition links about the Trans Pacific Partnership. Because its the biggest bullshit corporate takeover planned EVER. Essentially, among other things, it will allow many multi-national corporations to be able to sue governments if said governments pass laws that hurt those corporations' profits. I don't think I need to spell out the potential consequences. It would make corporations have power over governments in this respect, if I'm following correctly.

I don't normally push petitions, because there can be so damn many... BUT this topic is pretty important. The TPP will be the LARGEST TRADE DEAL in history if it goes through, and our stupid-ass government is trying to bypass congress to get it passed, not to mention how secret the deal's details have been kept.

As I said, specific topics of interest should be posted if you think they deserve interest (that's what forums are for after all) all I was getting at was that a huge dedicated politics thread with no one theme was just going to be a shit throwing hate party filled with tears, fire, doom & despair and the odd death threat/exploding cum jar.

I'd probably just post that again under its own thread yo so it gets more interest.

Lol, I'm kind of a politics nerd. My two things is guitar(+gear obvi) and politics. I do however feel like online discussions on a guitar forum might not be the time or place for this stuff.
