I'm an avid conspiracy theory follower, it's been a huge form of entertainment for me.
I've read David Icke's "Guide to the Global Conspiracy" and watched a lot of FreemanTV.
Whether you decide to believe it or not, for me it just adds a fun new way of looking at things.
VigilantCitizen.com is also a really good way to get into the conspiracy underbelly of pretty much all major media.
Generally when this topic does come up though, I always like to refer to one of my pet subjects:

Super Mario Bros. The Movie. 1993.
Fascinating time-capsule specimen of Hollywood tripe
Widely panned for being a shitty movie that had nothing to do with the games we know and love.
Plot: The meteor that we thought wiped out the dinosaurs actually created an alternate dimension,
where they evolved into upright humanoid reptiles with thumbs and spikey 90s hair.
King Koopa (played by the inimitable Dennis Hopper) is ruler of this world and seeks the missing meteorite piece to merge the dimensions and conquer our world.
The meteorite is protected by their royal family, currently held by an orphaned redhead princess, raised as human after hatching in front of a catholic church.

The princess is kidnapped and taken back to the alternate dimension, where the Mario brothers track her to rescue her.
In the lizard dimension, the whole world is endless desert with the exception of the city where Koopa's Tower is.

In the reptile dimension, Koopa's base of operations is their world's version of the Twin Towers, inexplicably charred and damaged.
Towards the end of the movie, the dimensions briefly merge. Watch what happens:

Spooky huh guys? Some Hollywood folks took the outline of the Mario universe and injected in a strange story
about shape-shifting reptilian humanoids that move between dimensions via tunnels underneath New York city.
Incidentally it also predicted 9/11 eight years in advance. But the important underlying message is the power of belief!
Here's the whole movie:
