pretty much. Some of them are modded other brand amps but mostly the jca's.

As for YOB, Mike uses pedals. Any clean amp that functions and gets loud will do. Free amps would be hard to turn down. I doubt he is using them in studio but who knows.

Yeah, it is confusing. Scott Reeder also uses one of those bison amps and the fuzz pedal as well, I think.
I mean, I like the pedal and how it sounds, and I even got a note with it, that mentioned some component swapping chinese because I wanted it too be bass friendly, but this whole "my amps are full of eels, so no gut shots or I'll goop stuff" thing is upsetting.
If you've got a talent to mod stuff - great, but just be upfront about it!

I don't think Mason in Cult Leader has a Hovercraft. I wouldn't let him buy one. They're recording at God City and it's Kurt Ballou's amp.

Admittedly -- they may not be terrible amps but knowing the upfront cost on some of those amps it makes the price tag a little hard to digest.

Baltar V2 gut shot

Gut shot of my Baltar V2. No goop or weird threatening messages. Just a few removed caps replaced with a couple other caps and a resistor. Shoddy workmanship? Not sure if that's how I would have done it, but then again, I don't know how to mod amps in the first place. Here's the scoop, its a modded PV Valveking, re-tubed, re-tolexed, re-knobbed....recycled(????). Is it worth $850? I think so... because it sounds fucking awesome. That's what you're paying for...the sound. As stated above, I don't know how to mod amps and it would cost me time and money to figure it out. I think these Hovercraft guys got it figured out and that knowledge should be worth something.

Yeah, maybe the guy should be more up front and reveal what platforms he's working off of. But now, at least on these gear forums, it's a well known fact he's using PV and Jet City stuff.
