Re: Pet peeve misspelling: pique
Word crimes on a forum don't really bother me, most of the time it's auto-correct working it's magic or not previewing what you wrote because you're in a rush for everyone to see your hilarious comment. We all know what you are trying to say (well, most of you).
One common mistake I see on here all of the time is people confusing "Jive" with "Jibe", as in "I wanted to fit in with everyone on ILF, but I just didn't jive with my new Elements pedal". What you mean to say is "My penis is small and I need to compensate by garnering the approval of strangers on the internet by co-opting their opinions but I didn't jibe with that pedal". Jibe means agreeable, jive means slang or a type of jazz music.
The more you know, fuckwads

Re: Pet peeve misspelling: pique
one that amuses me is people who confuse 'you're' and 'your'. a lot of it about.
at its most funny when someone tries to insult you by writing 'your a cunt' etc. because no matter what they call you they immediately look a bigger cunt for not knowing the difference between the contracted 'you are' and the possessive 'your'.
another classy one (prolific in the uk) is people who confuse 'specific' with 'pacific'. for those still confused, if you are not referring to an ocean or a tin of tuna, the word you are looking for is 'specific'.
generally i don't care about grammar (and capital letters not at all). as long as someone is able to communicate their meaning effectively i'm not going to nitpick with them over a forgotten apostrophe. and obviously children, foreigners, dyslexics and people i like are all beyond criticism.
but if you intend to lock horns with me on a forum please spell-check first to avoid disappointment.
@ugly nora. your 'for the last time I'll replie' quote is an all-time classic of the genre.

Re: Pet peeve misspelling: pique
I really enjoy when people misspell "barely" as "barley". Although that's probably more of a typo than a misspelling.

Re: Pet peeve misspelling: pique
When attempting to pluralize, please omit the apostrophe. Apostrophes= possessive, not multiples of something. Actually, none of this stuff really bothers me that much. You guys are dicks trying to drag me down to Dickville with you
