The Descent, Outpost and Dog Soldiers all need a mention aswell, Oh and Bubba Ho-tep... does Thriller Count? It's got Vincent Price rapping in it what could be more horrific!
Scruffie mentioned a lot of awesome ones there, I like all those... I've always been into werewolf movies and I think Dog Soldiers is the best of the genre, totally badass!
It's great that this thread is full of so much horror discussion... we're like a bunch of Garth Marenghis, real horror aficionados!
For the random draw what I've been doing is just keeping a file of every new name that enters, #1 is Scruffie, #2 is Aen, etc, and we'll do a random number generator click on Saturday night. No prob to continue the horror chatting, no worries!
Waveform, I've got Duel on right now and it's great, I'm halfway through, the guy is recuperating at a diner from his first frightening encounter.... being a big rig driver must flippin' rule.

About as close as I can think to alien abduction would be invasion of the body snatchers from the 70's (it's got Donal Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum & Leonard Nimoy in it)... another classic horror film but it doesn't really closely relate to Blair witch or Paranormal Activity... I don't think something like that really exists or would work... There was some kind of Alien film released at the same time as Paranormal Activity called The Fourth Kind... but i'm not sure how good that was.
I saw Army Of Darkness once with a live intro and Q&A with Bruce Campbell. He entered the room by doing back handsprings onto the stage from the wings! Super badass.

Huh...I thought I posted a fun fact about that one in here...anyways...apparently for marketing they were putting fake stories in newspapers in Alaska, but didn't mention anywhere that they were fake. Public outrage ensued. But I think it falls into the same vein as those two.
lulz and if he's looking for something like Paranormal Activity, I don't think how good it is is relevant.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers is fucking awesome. And if you want something more comical Slither.

I really cant decide, im a bit boring i guess, i really cant decide, for the time beeing i really enjoy alien, psycho and the shining. I didnt realise im a classics guy until now.
dmcmahon, check out a movie called The Fourth Kind... it's really close to what you're describing I think. I liked it, watched it just last week.
FS, that picture is hilarious!
My favourite horror movies have to have monsters or aliens or demons in them.. I hate horror movies that are just about crazy humans. Like Saw and Hostel, I don't even consider those horror movies as I just can't stand humans torturing humans. Well, except for the Shining I guess, I love that movie.. but it's more about the feel of it, the scenery and the hotel, it just has such a great vibe. (Have you tried watching it......... on weed?)
But a monster or alien or werewolf or demon torturing a human, well that's awesome. So I really love Alien and Aliens, they're perfect for me. Space horror in general is just awesome. Has Pandorum been mentioned yet? It's newish and a very solid space horror.
Maybe my favourite kind of horror though is comedy horror... there's two shows I just can't watch enough of and I'd probably watch them every day if it wouldn't drive Tanya crazy.. Ghostbusters and Dark Place.
The horror movie that scared me the most out of every movie I've ever seen was the Exorcist. I wasn't allowed to watch it and I did watch it and it really freaked me out.
Oh man, I went to the place where they shot "The Birds" last summer. I had no idea that it was until I went in the restaurant. Really beautiful place, though I will never look at birds the same way again.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?
