Local craigslist has a peavey classic vt 212 combo. Anyone tried one of these? I'm testing it out tomorrow. They're asking 175.

Y'all, need some advice re: YBA-3. Apparently there's no tolex, just the exposed head shell. Not really a problem for me, but kinda worried if I ever want to flip it what the resell value would be. What y'all think? Should I ask for less (already got it down to $400$).

i say go with it. you can probably flip it for 4. and on the other hand I'm thinking about selling this Traynor YBA-1A. I pulled it out and was playing and I'm still just unsatisfied with it.

If it's like my YBA1, it needs the right pedal in front of it. With down-tuned bass, mine loves the meathead dark clone I have, but it's really lacking with my go-to Monarch od unless I eq pedal the crap out of it. Needs a signal with sexy midrange content.

Anyone ever tried the Peavey Firebass 700 bass head? Looking at splitting a stack with my friend, I'd get the Peavey for about $150. Not familiar with that Peavey head, but it's 700 watts at 2 ohms, and it's got a mid sweep. Seems like a ton of power cheap... And amps should resemble their owners.

YES on that YBA3. Get some sweet boat tolex and re-tolex it, then sell for huge profit as "custom tolex job". :thumb:

Yea I can't tell you about that peavey.

But I don't really use pedals with it, it's nice and dirt but also seems flubby and is well even at 90watts seems extremely low volume.

I use a FZ-2. Then there's the extra 60 watts of the YBA-3 ;)

Actual volume difference between YBA-1, 1A and 3 is negligible. It mostly amounts to extra headroom. Chilllerthanmost and I have done side by side shootouts in my warehouse, with multiple versions of them.

Yeah that extra headroom is what's got me more interested in the Yba-3. High volume cleans!

Are the Yba-1 and 3 similar tone wise?

They're very close. I believe the 3 has some bright and maybe deep switches the 1 doesn't have, but they have a ton of overlap tonally and are essentially the same. When we did our shootout we did two different era 3's and my 1 and they were all VERY close in tone. Down to extremely nitpicky levels, no major differences.

Mine might have something wrong with it. I'm mainly saying it doesn't even sound like it's near 90watts.
