I hate to tell you but the verellen mod was literally one resistor added in to bleed off the gain. It was cleanly done, but ummm well there wasn't really much he could do to make it messier in there with just a single resistor....

Well actually there are a lot of things you could do to poorly replace or add a resistor to an amplifier. My point wasn't how extensive the mod was or wasn't, but that I suspected it was done very well compared to the poor quality of the mods shown here.

True, well from what I remember it was cleanly done yes.

I can't go much into detail here because friends are/were involved but I have seen the insides of a number of these amplifiers. Every single one of the ones I saw was hideous. I would never in a million years buy one, even with YOUR money. I don't know anything about Joe but his video and pictures in that facebook thread were wholly unsurprising and par for the course as far as I'm concerned. I've heard about newer ones sporting better build quality but I'll believe it when I see it. You're better off saving a few weeks or months longer for a proper amplifier that actually meets commonly accepted electrical safety standards.

Alternatively, learning to mod the preamp in a SLO copy is relatively easy and mods are well-documented on the SLO clone forum. You could do better quality work yourself with a solder sucker and a few replacement parts and learn a ton in the process.

Not to beat a dead horse with this Hovercraft thing but are their any builder here on ILF that would mod a JCA for me? The amp tech here in town is a dumbass and I'm not about to go rooting around in one and electrocute myself.

Hah! At least there was the faceplate change. Skip, do you know how the bleeder was wired in?

I've always been interested in low gain mods since the 20H came out. Not many other people seem to be. It's a shame--the things are very good platforms.

No I don't, I believe skully took a pic while it was in possession so maybe he can help.

The only thing I didn't like was the lack of low end in the amps, but then again I'm used to 6550's / kt88's and the JCA's are EL84..... so I might be jaded :idk:

True that. I just know he's a pretty busy dude from lurking here. The jca20h are on sale over at musiciansfriend for $350..

Wait a second, they already "made" 200 of these pedals and the Kickstater had a goal of $500?
What in the actual fuck. I'm not commenting on the amps or dude's attitude or anything, but what a bullshit Kickstarter campaign.

From the Kickstarter:
we have been making hovercraft amps and pedals for over 3 years now, and our parent company, solid cables have been in business for over 13 years and are part of the dean markley family of companies.
Solid Cables, eh?
http://solidcables.com
The GT Instrument cable comes with a lifetime warranty, and is $60 for a 10 foot cable.
The Dynamic Arc Ultra, with unlimited lifetime warranty, and is $140 for a 10 foot cable
The Eleph Speaker Cable, with unlimited lifetime warranty, is $140 for a 3 foot cable

I noticed that 200 units made thing. I was kinda hoping they were just bad at writing and refering to the V1 or something. If they are part of the Dean Markley family, why do they need a kickstarter? Not to mention those have to jet city pedals with tolex glued on and those stupid bars you can pay extra to get removed. They charge like an extra 20 for on different color tolex.

The whole thing is just bizarre And scummy. Those jet city pedals go for 50 to 80 retail and if they mod them (being hopeful here) and then mark them up to 145...makes sense moneywise esp. if they payed bulk pricing for those pedals from whatever factory makes them. It would also make sense for the low 500 goal. It's this guy, it's got to be:

The knobs/switches kinda don't make sense for something that is supposed to a fuzz/crunch/boost. They state that the tone is used to color the boost to taste (low gain), then right below it say that the tone is to dial in glitchy fuzz. so which does it do? I dunno, just finding this kickstarter is enough to keep me away. Something fishy is going on.

And 140 for 3 foot of cable is beyond silly.

I have an Ionostrofear Fuzz, it's V2.
Shall I open it up to check if it's full of eels?
