So I have struck out on the Possessed twice. Amazon and Yahoo JP both took the order then marked them out of stock (both were different retailers using the Amazon and Yahoo services). I haven't tried the Rakuten stores but they look to be the same retailers. This is always a risk when ordering from Japan: some retailers, either because of pride, regional contracts, or avoidance of problems, will cancel orders from foreigners and pruchasing agents. Also, many sellers in Japan will sell them item before having it because they have an agreement or the ability to go get the item from a store or the manufacturer but will cancel it if they can't get it. I also went through this for the NTSC-J XBOX360.

However, I picked up a Kollaps and Life Convulsion without any problem.

Anyway, here is a guide for getting stuff from Japan...it takes PATIENCE and time, but it is kind of fun watching different shopping sites.

1. Make an account at fromjapan.co.jp

2. Click "search NOW" link at the top and search for what you are looking for. Remember, English isn't their first language and sometimes you need to find the kanji or try different spellings to find a listing. For example: Lastgasp can be under Last Gasp or LAL.

3. Order that thing. You'll want to group as many things into one order as possible because they put a charge per item for buying it, but there is a cap when shopping from the same store. For example: If you are ordering PS2 games, get them all from Amazon to minimize the purchase fee.

4. With Paypal or Credit Card, there is a 5% fee for using it.

5. Make a good sized order over the period or a week. Wait for them all to get to their warehouse.

6. Shipping isn't expensive isn't as bad as US to Europe or England but it is still pretty expensive. It's usually around 20 usd to ship a pedal to the US via EMS but it will be at your house within a week. Group as many items you can to save the most money. Remember, you are saving on exchange rates and also by buying in bulk, not on each individual item. Like a Raptio is ~230 here but ~170 in JP (+20 usd shipping) 230 vs 190 doesn't seem worth it for the price but....do it 5 or 10 times and it gets worth it (because shipping goes down). Oh, don't forget their are a few other charges too.

7. Wait, then enjoy.

8. WARNING: Most retailers are pretty good but there are bad ones out there. They also know when they are shipping to a purchasing service. There is also a language barrier. There is always a risk of not getting what you ordered. Like if you order Psyvariar Revised for the PS2, do I really know that it comes with the case? Just think of all the junk on amazon here...except you didn't buy it and returning it would be a mess over thousands of miles, if they even want to attempt to help you.

Example cost: RAPTIO ~170 usd + 1.80 commision + 20 shipping + 5% paypal + packing = ~215.....it's a little cheaper but not much. If you find it on auction though, that could be a way better deal.

Thanks to futuresailors for the mention of fromjapan.co.jp ... they seem pretty up front compared to others.

edit: Oh, pair it with another interest of yours or order gifts for people. Things like ink nibs, pens, brushes, and stationary are good. Remember video game systems (get that famicom) and regions (many systems are region free and that old Genesis can play a ton of JP games with a game genie or taking the shell off). Look for other vintage instruments and stuff...like the maestro G-1, drum machines, and stuff like that. Records are another good thing to look for....found some good Buck Owens, Zouo, and Gauze on there for good prices!

Fifty bucks each, which is not the crazy part. The crazy part is that they were Joyo or some such pedals with REEEEALLLY shitty paint jobs over the logos.

It seemed to me that someone bought them, didn't like them and tried to flip them for more than he paid by disguising the fact that they were Joyo. What a douche!

I message the guy about that one and this is what he said
This is a JOYO "CASING". A completely different circuit board has been added with NEW wiring to include microfarad bypass caps, 0.47uf metallized polyester coupling caps, mouser polystyrene VCO caps, silver mica capacitors, etc. I could go. This is most certainly NOT a JOYO.

Dude, dude! Where do you get those mojo-filled mouser caps? Was it painted by this guy (it's NSFW but a wikipedia article).
