Btw...I know I keep talking about prices and all, but isn't there a...well, a 'higher end' version of the M5? Like equally compact, but just better build quaity and more reliable software or whatever. I'd for instance trust the same concept a lot more if it was designed and produced by a company like T-Rex, or even TC Electronics

The only thing I can think of that comes close is the bitquest

Bitquest: Awesome pedal I'm sure, but it's really not that close. 8 effects versus a bazillion effects

^ yeah basically, which is more like the zoom minus being able to stack effects or have presets. super awesome but maybe not what you'd be after.
i wish Boss would do something in the M5 form factor, all their multi's are really big

for what it's worth, I hated it. The sounds aren't bad at all, but totally unreliable. It changed presets order, sometimes erase my own presets, switch between tbp and dsp, and lot of other strange things.

Re: Line 6 M5?
I've had an m9 and an m5. I like a lot of the effects and versatility, including things like the expression pedal being able to control any parameter.
I got rid of both because I don't love the interface and the size and weight. I also wish it had some of the reverbs the CDR and RV-7, etc have. It came down to wanting something else more.
As far as something more high end, the H9 is that now.

H9! Thanks, that's actually exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of. I'm totally clueless when it comes to digital gear, apparantly Eventide gear doesn't get picked up by my radarjulius_deane wrote:I've had an m9 and an m5. As far as the price tag goes though...It would've been nice if it werent like 5X the price of the Zoom MS-50
I know I asked for quality, and that comes at a price...But 700 bucks for something I'd unly use once in a while...
I'll see if the specs/demos/reviews can convince me though. I could probably try one out locally, and If I get lucky selling my other peds and find a used one, maybe it's not impossible after all. Either way thnks again for the tip.

H9 Core is more like $399.

I had an MS-70 CDR and it sounded great. My complaint was that it has limited "live" use due to only having one footswitch.
Maybe the Zoom G3 is an option? If you have the space for it.

The one footswitch thing isn't even that big a deal for what I plan to do with the thing, I'd rather have something that's small enough to fit on my board.
I'll look into those Eventide units, the Core version might make more sense for me if it's anything like what I think it is. Like I said, I'll have to do some research, cause all that toneprint usb bluetooth digital space smartphone magic is stil a bit intimidating for an old schooler like myself
Edit: Doesn't look like the Eventide does a decent swell effect, at least not the way the Line 6 does. No sweep delay or anything else either :s

The band delay can do a sweep delay

So it seems! Sometimes it's awesome to be wrong , cheers.Derelict78 wrote:The band delay can do a sweep delay
Getting serious second thoughts about the whole Eventide H9 sceme though. There's clever marketing and than there's plain old scamming...
They're kinda secretive about the price of those algorithms, and if they're indeed $20 a piece, that's not a big surprise
Edit: I wasn't too thrilled about the app thing to begin with, though maybe I'm just getting old or maybe I'm too much of a rockn roll purist or whatever...But paying a premium price for a small piece of hardware that'll easily cost me an extra $150 till it can be used to its full potential? Thanks but no thanks
The concept icould have been pretty cool. I could've gotten the Core version and not pay for all the cheesy modulated pitch shifting filters, and customise my pedal the way I want it, by just providing it with my own little selection of handpicked algoritms.
But at that price that idea just totally falls apart imo, at least for me personally.

Re: Line 6 M5?
I have an m9 and I had a m13 for a few years. I also had a timefactor and the band delay is WAY better than anything on thee m9.
I'm not saying the m series isn't awesome because it is. After years of using them I have had zero issues with build quality.
If I had the $ though I would go with 2 h9's

Yeah, switching between effects is kind of a pain in the ass.stilwel wrote:I had an MS-70 CDR and it sounded great. My complaint was that it has limited "live" use due to only having one footswitch.

Re: Line 6 M5?
If they put the CDR effects into the G3 form factor and added MIDI...now that would be compelling.
