Help me build the dual fuzz of my dreams!!

Post by CyaNitrate »

Ok. So. Just ordered the Bit and Hyperion diy kits.

I wanna put them in one box.

It shall be glorious :yay:

So I've never built a pedal but can solder and follow directions...I have no doubt (I hope) that I can build each individual pedal. But wiring them together in a single box is something that I could use help on from any of you fine fuzz lovers.

Concerns:
-Wiring the power to both circuits, so it only requires one power source, like any other dual fuzz
-wiring the circuits together...my assumption is that the output of one will go to the input of the other..but like i said...noob here.
-Which order? I've not had either individual pedal before, but i did have a Rocket for a time. I tend to liken the Hyperion more to the SM and the Bit more to the VFM, so my thought was Bit->Hyp. I don't think i want an order switch ala BAT Coven, unless its stupid easy. So anyone who has stacked the two, both directions, input would be much appreciated.
- box size...no clue here. i know enclosures are assigned 4 digit numbers but I'm not sure what the Shoegazer/Rocket/Godzilla box size is, or if it will work. Board space isn't really a concern, but I don't wan't it to be bigger than necessary.

For graphics I'll glue something down and use Envirotex light, like on my pickguard in my avatar. I did it to another pedal and it worked well. I'm thinking it will have Clap Trap on it...because he's made by Hyperion and Borderlands is a video game...and..REASONS!

Thanks in advance for all and any help! :thumb:

why not parallel?

Parallel is the best
Great dealings with: ryan summit, UncleGrandfather, Pizza, hbombgraphics, dangergirlstarship, Clockworker, kosta

I found this layout and I think it will work for what I need, but because I'm not sure how the 3PDT works internally, I'm but sure if this is parallel or series. My thinking is if it's series, then the circuit on the left is first in the chain, followed by the second. Thoughts?

Look up the Buff and Blend that's on the Beavis Audio site. That's a straight forward way to add a blend between two sounds that can sometimes create unpredictable noises.

If you were concerned about not having the 2nd stomp, I could look at how you could add one just for boost/higher gain?

Think Shoegazer, but instead of the SM and TP circuits, I'll but the Hyperion and Bit in their place. Then I could just vary the blend with the volume and tone controls. I'm pretty sure that dual offboard wiring layout will work.

That wiring layout should work. I might flip one of the stomps around so the LEDs are symmetrical, but that is just my obsessive nature : )

Excellent! Thanks for the confirmation. And regarding the LEDs, I can always give myself enough lead to mount then both on the inside or both on the outside of the switches. But on that note, you said flip the stomp around....does that mean wire them as mirror images, or rotate it 180 degrees and leave the connections as they are?
