Anyone like wrasslin'???

Post by UncleBBQ »

I'm not as huge a fan of the current stuff as the good ol' days of WWE but I mean...I still do find it entertaining for the most part.

Fave matches? Fave wrestlers? Thoughts on PG era vs Attitude era???

STUNNER!

I prefer the Attitude Era because when I think of wrestling. I think of hardcore, technicality, great matches, good wrestlers, good storylines. Honestly we don't see much of those in the PG Era.

I know very little of wrestling apart from video games.

I was all about the attitude era when I was in elementary school, I was lucky in that I was able to watch WWF before things got wack. I used to (still play some times) Wrestlemania 2000 for N64. Of course I loved The Rock, dude FUCKING crushed it on the mic.

My love of the wrasslin' dates back to Georgia Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie. I was a Tommy Rich fan as a kid. Dude did some of the sickest blade jobs ever. I also was quite the ECW fan before Vince monopolized. And I, too, enjoyed the WWF/WWE Attitude era. I dug Stone Cold. My favorite feuds are Bruiser Brody vs. Abdullah the Butcher, Mr. Wrestlings 1&2 vs the Assassins, and Tommy Rich vs Buzz Sawyer. Favorite recent-ish dudes are Sabu, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Rob Van Dam, Jerry Lynn, Tazz (when he was in ECW), and Kurt Angle. Don't know how into Ultra Violent Wrestling y'all are, but CZW is the most hardcore shit going on in America. Some of the Japanese matches were equally brutal. Some of my favorite matches were Tajiri vs Super Crazy, Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn, Sabu and Rob Van Dam, and the Undertaker/Mankind Hell in a cell. Also the Cactus Jack vs Terry Funk barbwire death match. The one match that I wanted to see but didn't was Tommy Rich vs Buzz Sawyer in the legendary Last Battle of Atlanta, which was a super bloody cage match from '83. It sucks because there's no film from that match. There are a few photos of it floating around on the internet. Both Sawyer and Rich were covered in blood. Sawyer won and it (mostly) ended their feud. So yeah, big into the wrasslin'. I watch TNA these days, and even WWE (mostly for Bray Wyatt).

I used to be a HUGE ECW fan, also before Vince made a cash grab out of it's name and legacy. I was a massive fan of the original cruiserweight division before Eric Bicshoff grabbed all that talent and made them low to mid card guys in the WCW.

I think the Monday Night Wars/Attitude Era were exactly what further fueled my love of it though. I still can't think of anything better than Stone Cold vs McMahon, DX vs The Nation, Hart vs Michaels, the crazy TLC matches, etc.

I've heard about the Last Battle of Atlanta, sounded like one of the craziest matches of it's era.

I can't get into TNA, I've tried to watch it many times - I just feel like it's a cheap WCW for today - old talent gripping onto their careers, new guys that don't really get the pushes they deserve...plus I can't stand anything Jeff Jarrett touches.

Yeah, I get that about TNA, except now, Sting, Hogan, and Flair are gone. I mainly watch because of the X Division. Recently they've had a neat tag team series with the Dudleys/Team 3D, The Hardys, and the Wolves. All 3 teams have a victory under their belt, so there will be one more match to decide who the top team is. There was a regular 3 way dance, a tables match, and a ladder match. Not sure what the next gimmick match will be yet. But I'm pulling for the Dudleys.

Yeah, Attitude era was a lot of fun. I never got tired of Austin running in and stunning the shit out of everybody. Plus the whole driving the beer truck into the arena. Also, Angle driving the milk truck in was funny as fuck.

That actually sounds pretty interesting, I'll have to check it out. I do enjoy the Hardeys and the Dudleys. So I'm sure I would be entertained.

Also, can I just say Stacy Keibler, Sable, Lita, Trish, Torrie Wilson, Dawn Marie, etc...  :snax: :animal:
