Re: ILOVEDRUMS... It Begins.
Yeah, it's not fundamentals, as in rudiments all the time for me either. I actually don't do it a whole lot. But... I like seeing someone do something interesting on the kit. Take a John Bonham fill, or a basic rock fill. Many are just some sort of rudiment just broken down over different drums. John worked his way around the tom fills using a lot of these simple ideas. And that's it. It's simple, but sounds way cool when applied around the toms in a triplet thunder. And, like Han always shooting first, John did his triplets leading with his Left. That feels so bizarre and foreign to me, I would have to practice the hell out of it to make it happen. I can do a similar sounding right-hand-lead, but it's not quite the same. I love watching other drummers take very simple things and make it sound cool. Then when you get behind your kit, you can try to get your arms, legs, and brain to do what you just saw. And once you accomplish that, you can figure out a way to make it your own.

playing along to power metal records makes me feel good. i need to play along to an old powerquest record or along to that new gloryhammer record.
anything with constant double bass is fun. especially if you're building endurance up. that's where feet rudiment exercises come in handy!

as in paradiddleparadiddle while alternating lead hands (RLRRLRLL)? or maybe a paradiddlediddle (RLRRLL) or a paraparadiddle (RLRLRR)? or double stroke paradiddle (RRLLRRRRLLRRLLLL)?

But all smart arserry aside, I'm still trying to get that one down myself. I'm sure if we keep practicing it will become second nature.

Re: ILOVEDRUMS... It Begins.
Helpful life tip: When going to a fair where you plan to go on rides, leave your phone in the car. I am pretty sure, seeing as how the last time I went was, forever ago, that I didn't have a phone to worry about the last time I went to the fair.
I took it, and I was so worried about having it fly out of my shorts pocket, that I didn't think that all the force of me being pushed up against safety bars and the like, might just CRACK THE FRIGGIN SCREEN!! Sigh... That's OK. It just goes with my theme of hemorrhaging money. Yeeehawww. I should get my replacement tomorrow. It would have been more glorious had the phone flown through the air with the greatest of ease and landed with a satisfying audible "CRACK" on the pavement. My luck though, it would hit some kid, and I would get sued. I guess it could have been worse. lol.

Re: ILOVEDRUMS... It Begins.
yea when i've gone to Disney world I leave my phone in the hotel room. I don't even take my wallet with me cause I don't want to lose it. I almost most did last year when we went for 5 year anniversary and that first day my phone fell out of my pocket and it was already at the lost and found at the front of the park which is insanely fast cause I don't think I was missing it for like 5 or 10mins.

It's okay, you didn't fail us. Only if you turn your back on playing the goodness for some pop punk... then you would have failed us.

I'm in the process of trying to soundproof our little back house on the cheap. Also failing. Jamming quiet and not late sucks.
