Dual amp/dual board setup?

So, someone may be giving me a second bass amp for free soon, and its got me thinking. I originally thought about just splitting my signal after all my pedals and running it into both amps. But now Im thinking of 2 different chains each with different effects.

First thought is getting a micro pog and running the octave up effect into its own chain and my original bass signal into another.

Second thought is skip the octave up and just have a "basic" amp with maybe just OD, fuzz, and a looper, and possibly my Bitquest. and then run my other dirt and modulation/delay/reverb into the other amp with another looper. This seems more complicated, both in wiring and playing, but more satisfying.

Also, is there a box that can turn on two different pedals in two different chains? Like if I wanted to hit a fuzz in each chain at the same time, could that be done?

Anyone have a setup like this at all? I play bass and I am thinking about this for a drum/bass duo, but I'd be interested to hear about any guitar rigs too. Good combinations, tips, tricks, etc.

I had a pedal chain going like that for a bit before I sold most of my pedals off to fund my EGC. It definitely has a more 'full' sound to it, but I would try it out in a band context first, it could get overly complicated for no reason if it doesn't sound/fit well in the band.

6 band EQ -> Fuzz -> Clean Boost ->

Output A -> Buzz Box -> reverb
Output B -> BitQuest (octave up) -> delay

Was pretty cool sounding, and sounded like two instruments which was cool.

As far as a looper that could do two sets of loops at once, you'd just have to make sure you were using a 4PDT switch. It would be 4 jacks for bypass instead of 2

Could each loop go to a different amp, and still have them on one stomp?

I thought about my chains going:

1: ss/bs Buzzz (maybe always on octave up) -> Bitquest-> TAFM -> Ditto

2: Second Voice -> (planned purchases of EQD Depths and/or Ghost Echo) -> Marsh Chapel -> Mini -> (some other fuzz. Dungeon Master, EQD Terminal, Unpleasant Surprise. Something) -> Cavedweller -> Ditto

That would be quite a few purchases to get to where I want it, but I could do a much simpler version now.

I had the pickups split on my t-40 for a long time, and ran them through different chains.
It is a lot of fun! I ended up selling my second amp to pay for moving expences about a year ago and while I do miss the crazy shit I could do, most of it would not realy help in a full band situation.
Again though, it was crazy amounts of fun!

I have different chains and a master dirt board. I found it was easiest for non-MIDI stuff to just have a dirtbox split somewhere to both amps, and if I wanted a specific fuzz or whatever on amp 1, 2, or 3 that I'd just put a pedal inline with it or use the rack to make it so.

Basically I have a HM-2 on steroids (the old Boss GL-100 rackmount) as my preamp for the rack, and that signal goes to the Jazz Chorus and Mustang V along with other stuff, and the Hot Rod Deluxe has its own OD/Gain channel if I want that for discrete stuff. Generally though I don't want so massively elaborate that it would require one switch for a dozen things - if that applies, it's multi-fx or rack time in spades. I also route things around in the patchbay to make them go where I think they need to be.

The level of complexity you're wanting to deal with is something you have to have cause for to get the most out of, as it's going to be both expensive and time consuming (and hell to lug around/setup for gigs). If I still was physically capable of gigging, I'd go with a fraction of this stuff.

I'm running two stacks with bass in a guitar/bass duo. It's a pretty simple, but effective, setup.
First I split the bass signal. Then
- signal 1 goes through a bass boost, an octaver and a delay ... coming out of a 18" folded horn cab.
- signal 2 goes through all my dirt/filter/flanger madness and a delay ... coming out of 2x10" and 2x15".
I took the looper out of signal chain 2 and gave it it's own amp and cab, so actually it's a 3 amp set up. But I'm probably getting another looper to put one back in signal chain 2.

I think the cabs also play an important role in multiple amp setups. Somehow they have "to match" - to complement each other.
