Because, that dude ≠ blooz lawyer.
Speculating.
Doom definitely turned into the cool guy flavor of the month/year for a while, but it was happening before then and it's still happening now. Angry antisocial dudes with beards seem to be a constant in music.

Yeah that's true, it's not like it's reinventing the wheel.
I've mentioned this before but there have been swaths of hipsters frequenting heavy shows in my home town lately.
I suppose it was a matter of time.
WWPD?

ironically here at least a lot of the dudes who used to be 'really into'* doom are getting way more 'bluesy' because they figure that's gonna sell more records or something.
* where 'really into' means looking on ebay for the right reissue vintage equipment or google image searching the right picture of a decaying wizard and a naked chick for your bandcamp instead of actually writing a good song.
I love playing doom/stoner rock.........as in, it's really enjoyable to play with all of that volume and girth....heavy....just, fuck yes.
...and I did, for a while......but completely saw the trend growing, and got out.....because I felt like a sham.
Still gigging, but doing more of a hardcore/space rock sort of thing. Happier now....because that fits me better.
I like listening to doom/stoner........sometimes........as said before, the genre has compacted itself into a easily defined box for the most part. (at least at the amateur gigging level)
There are stand outs, great great bands/people and probably some I haven't heard of yet that really strive to be original.
I'm not trying to dis anyone.....just sometimes.....doom sounds like doom.....regardless of who's playing it and regardless of what you're playing through.
I don't like that people that are sensationalizing the gear that fits the doom/stoner look/appearance.
As if you couldn't make that music without a SG/SUNN/full stack/jean vest/beard.
