(Strange first post for a forum that's ostensibly guitar/fuzz related.) :hello:

(That's your answer. Find a surplus M1 Garand, buy it, proceed from there.)

(Oh, and I doubt you'll have much fun hunting "bore".)

This. 30-06 is a bad motherfucker. Will take down just about anything.
Also cheaper option than a M1 Garand, a surplus Enfield .303 bolt action. Very accurate and still lethal at 3 miles. Entry wound is the size of a pea, exit wound the size of a grape fruit. Good bang for your buck.

Just get a mosin and bayonet the shit out of some silverback or grizzly bear or whatever. It's long enough so that you'll still be at a safe distance.

 I wouldn't wanna be within 50 ft of a silverback or a grizzly bear. Actually make that 100 ft

But if you're hunting generally you don't want to mangle the animal correct? In order to preserve the meat? So wouldn't a giant grapefruit sized hole be less than ideal?

I'm pretty clueless on this subject as I take no joy in killing things for sport. But I suppose if you're hunting to control overpopulation or invasive species, the size of the hole doesn't matter.

I haven't hunted in about 20 years. Handed in all my firearms when my state of mental health started to go downhill. But when I did I would usually get head shots. I learned to shoot from a special forces marksman.

So in that case the hole wouldn't matter then

What'd you hunt? MY whole family is full of hunters but after killing a squirrel with BB gun I found it wasn't for me. I've still always wanted to learn how to shoot and I'm fascinated with guns but I'd never put the skill to any practical use if I obtained it.

Pigs, kangaroos, foxes, rabbits, ducks, pheasants. Pigs though I used to hunt with just a dog and a bayonet.

I think I could hunt invasive snakes, I think they are cool animals but I couldn't draw any connection to them. I don't think snake hunting is a thing though. Yeah I read a story about someone hunting pigs for the first time and killing it with just a knife. Way too brutal for me but I know they really fuck up the areas they take over.
