Terribly sad. I haven't paid much attention to the man in recent years but was always a fan. Extremely funny and was great in dramatic roles, as well. A true talent. I remember seeing Dead Poets Society when I was 16 and it made me so inspired. He was so great in that like a Dad you wish you had if you hadn't had a good one. I recently have been listening to Marc Maron's WTF podcasts on youtube. His interview with Mr. Williams is awesome. I listened to this weeks ago. It was a real pleasure to hear him on this podcast as he was just being himself. Super sweet and amazing person. Definitely a sad loss.

Sad. It's way too often that the funny, caring types are the ones with the worst demons. :(

EDIT: Noone mentioned The Fisher King. That's a hidden gem, and one of his best roles.

Oh hell yeah, The Fisher King was awesome, definitely should have mentioned that one.

I was really shocked and saddened when I heard. I actually thought about him not too long ago and I hoped he'd have a long life.

I loved when he had the bit about how politicians should have all their company donors/company sponsors on their suits like NASCAR does on their cars.

"TOYS:" - Great movie, predicted Drone warfare.

"What Dreams May Come" - Awesome movie, really moving and thought provoking.

"Mrs. Doubtfire;" That and Toys were two big movies of my childhood.

So many more. Williams was able to be funny and dramatic and emotional.

One Hour Photo is also pretty amazing.

He did a stand up show in Atlanta and my friend and I saw him walking down the sidewalk and my friend yelled "HOLY SHIT, ARENT YOU THE GUY FROM FLUBBER?"

Mr. Williams was quite amused. My friend was proud.

:lol    Thats fantastic. I probably would have made some Genie reference myself.

Turns out my dad met him when he was just starting out doing stand up. Said he was a really nice and fun loving dude, asked my dad after his performance if it was good.

My dad also said while he's not surprised he died like this, its still immensely sad.

Also, the police released the details around Mr. Williams's death and I'm a little bit angry. Its REALLY graphic and sad, I feel bad for having read it. I can't imagine how the family must feel.

I generally don't mind looking at the details of morbid stuff like this, but when I couldn't get myself to look at the article on Robin Williams when it showed up on reddit last night. Just don't think I'll be able to deal with having anything more than just the basic info with this. :(

Edit: It was nice to look at the megathread in askreddit and to see all of the good stories shared about him. I always thought that he was a cool dude, but seeing all of those stories about people meeting him and how awesome he was is nice.

Did anyone see this?

I can honestly say I could kill Rush in front of his family with nothing but pure, unbridled joy in my heart. Turning a tragic death in to a political statement
