There are mini glass tubes inside and i did smell the "warm" before i touched the pedal. It really gets pretty warm.
I don't think it is based on anything directly. It uses glass diodes and the tube afterwards for gain. But better read it yourself: http://www.effectrode.com/helios-tube-fuzz/
It sounds very unique. Never had a fuzz that sounds like this. But hadn't much time with it yet. Will give it a run at the practice space next week...

Endless Ocean is basically the king of horror games for me, and it's supposed to be educational or whatever.
