The solid state orange heads are fucking beast. I have one and I can't recommend them enough for the price.

the Shockwave I've played through was pretty fucking shrill. Might have been the particular amp. But just didn't like it. if I'm going to get a Crate I recommend the Crate 600xl. It's pretty fucking loud and awesome sounding for it just being 60watts. Good for recording. I also have a G600xl completely different sounding but I've been using it to record my Vomitwolves material. it straight up sounds like Archgoat/beherit with the guitar I use for it. oh and best thing is you can pick em up for like 40 bucks used.

Been thinking about the CR120. It's got that, um, Orange thing going on.

I've thought about getting one for touring / playing out so I'm not hauling my high dollar tube heads all over the place without a back up. Especially when now a days I only really use dirt and delay.... Cheap SS reliability with some good natural gain tone.... I'm down.

Hey SLK how do they take to pedals? Can you boost the dirt channel and how does the clean channel take fuzzes? Ever try a delay in the FX loop?

Takes them excellently and you can boost the dirt. I've only really messed with single pedals be it my HM2 and the firebreather big bastard. I don't have a delay pedal and really don't have any interest or need for one. Just never cared. :idk:

Other than that I can do some vids of it with the fire breather pedal I did one where I had 3 or 4 rigs going at once and one of the rigs was that Orange on a Traynor.

Speaking of which...there is a guy locally selling a Traynor YBA-1A bassmaster MKII. I'm not sure what the going rate of these are. He didn't tell me a price but said for sale or trade.

Good to know!!!!! The cthulhu fuzz has become my booster of choice, it turns anything into instant high gain crunch.

No delay?!? Does not compute..... :p

A demo vid would be sick when you get a chance!

Come on dude, the ss140c hasn't even arrived yet and now you're making me wonder if I should pick up one of these heads too...

They are different beasts that's for sure. But if you have the skrilla to spare I say pick one up as well. You did great getting the Ampeg cause those don't come up all that often. The Orange just came out so it's not disappearing anytime soon.

Probably that amp. I've seen grindcore-PV bass players use the Shockwave cuz those Crates have strong eq's and a lot of bass on tap. Or you can play Pig Destroyer covers.

I will join Solid State Loves Club.

There was a CR120 on Madison CL last month. Not on there now... Need to concentrate on BASS RIG. I have "enough" guitar gear.

Got my Wenge neck / Padauk fretboard Jazz Bass neck in the post yesterday! WOOT! And hardly any sanding to do before I tung oil it, it's so smooth!

I am not familiar with this phrase, "enough" guitar gear. Is that like, when you get a new piece of gear and you immediately think "I bet that other piece of gear I don't have would go really well with this one"? :idk:

Hell yeah man, church of transistor forever.

That ss arrived today, and all I have to say is holy shit. DAT MID RANGE.

The only bad thing I can say about this deal is that the dude packed it in just styrofoam peanuts, and they were fucking everywhere in the amp. Couldn't have put it in a garbage bag or anything?! Melted to the tolex too, so now I gotta grab some acetone from work to try to clean it up... may have to retolex the whole thing eventually if I can't get it looking pretty... :grumpy:

Let it look ugly. they are ugly amps that make ugly sounds! Also rub yo dick on it a bit. and on that note, I fucking hate those peanuts. everytime someone packs something in those I try to open somewhere I don't have to pick up all the shit.

I'm all about the Solid State Love Club. Never thought i'd see that on here or really in general.

Ancient... tmwr I think I'll be able to do that proper soundtest of the Orange. I'll probably do with the camera for quickness and ease. I'll do clean and then pedal. and then the amp's dirt and then boosted with dirt.
