I've tried it through the 810 before, didn't wow me. I should try it through one of the Duallies though, since I can get way more headroom. I tend to like my amps for bass mostly clean or just a little dirt and use pedals.BoatRich wrote: Have you tried the VTM as a bass head?

Ahh okay, I like mine to be run really dirty and then add more, which is why I was curious.Corey Y wrote:I've tried it through the 810 before, didn't wow me. Corey, if you ever want to get rid of that Peavey (or trade it for a Sound City)

I can't see ever getting rid of the Peavey. I bought it for $250 and it always sounds killer, so it's always been worth more to keep. I kept it and sold both a vintage JCM800 and Hiwatt, because I can get the same tone out of the VTM120 (just takes way more knob twiddling). My gear has become a weird mix of boutique and ultra cheap beater stuff, but it's just whatever I like the sound of really. Plus, I've already had 2 Sound Cities before. My B120 I had for almost 10 years I think. That was my main amp for a long time, "before they were cool" lol

Get one, just do it. They're not rare or hard to find and you can still get them cheap. I wouldn't pay more than $350 tops for one, anyone asking more is delusional. They're solid amps, mine has taken a beating like you wouldn't believe. It still has the factory branded tubes in it too lol.

my butcher still has the factory tubes as well. Paid $240. the only issue with these amps is finding one for sale. You just have to keep an eye out and play the patience game.

Here is a pic of my old rig. Two ampeg v4s and two early 70s Sunn 4x12s.
And my new rig. A 70s Traynor that is completely Rebuilt and modified and a Steamboat 2 x12 oversized cab and a 2 X 15 I built myself with JBLs.

Check allofcraigs.com - there are quite a few available at better prices, though none in the Bay. Maybe one of the doombros can help arrange shipping?archlilim wrote:Working on it. I hear ya. I miss my old rig also. I wasn't paying as much so it went to a good home. It's always fun to start over anyways. You should check out Steamboat. They are based out of Houston and make some awesome gear. Are you located in Texas?ShaolinLambKiller wrote:Cool deal but I like the old rig better. new one looks too pretty!
