I would recommend a movie called Humble Pie. It's like Napolean Dynamite with emotion. There's also the Kill Bills. Seen here --- > in dat avatar
Gravity was really cool. The newest Planet of the Apes was awesome. Nell is a very quotable movie. Tae in da winn. I don't know if I really have favorites, I just watch ones and remember some of the good ones. Like Lord of the Rings and stuff.
I actually like Star Wars episode 1 better than the others. Sorry every other person on the planet

I find that is a pretty reliable source for good movies, although you should ignore new movies for about a year or two, because people tend to overrate movies right when they come out, and then the rating comes back to earth soon enough.
Yeah, been doing the exact same thing myself, think I've seen most of them now. Alot of great movies, though I do think movies from the US take up more places than they should. Probably because most of the users are american.

Just watched Her. That was a beautiful flick, with a pretty original story.

does the og Aen Flux fit under film? love that series.
RDogs gets preferential treatment for me because it is basically this real gritty piece of theatre script that got turned into a screenplay and worked like magic. The cast is fucking amazing. The acting is brilliant. And fuck man, that writing.
I'm a big fan of doing a lot with a little (why Evil Dead is my #1) and that movie fucking accomplishes tons with what essentially, a very basic premise and not a huge budget.
not to say Pulp Fiction isn't brilliant, but I'm calling apples and oranges.
People bag Guy Ritchie films, but I really dig em. I haven't seen the second Sherlock Holmes, but I really enjoyed the first one he did. RocknRolla was pretty cool too.
Snatch is awesome on so many levels though. Mainly, I love it for lines like these:

Wake in Fright was on ABC 2 the other night. It had been a while since I saw it, but managed to catch it.
Chips Rafferty is the fucking man in that. Also, young Jack Thompson playing it closet gay is pretty killer, too.

ughhhhhh i just... i just can't watch Timothy Roth in Rez Doges. he's soooo. fucking. AWFUL.

i dunno if he got someone to see his potential end get him some acting classes right after that movie or if Tarantino was doing some weird directional shizz that did NOT work or what... because he was great in 4 Rooms, and most everythig else he's been in. he MAKES Rob Roy.

when Guy Ritchie is on he's awesome. Locks is good, Snatch and Rock 'n Rolla are awesome; i didn't really like the Holmes movies but they're not awful. man. but when be fucks up he goes Porn Balls Deep with it. Revolver? holy SHIT that is horrible.

A Lot With A Little is so damn true though. i liked Bell Jar, Pi and The Cube are near and dear to my soft bits, there's so many little Not US films that are low budget but amazeballs.

The Raid is one of my favorite JUST PUNCH EVERYTHING OR KICK IT YEAH THAT WORKS OR STAB IT WITH A KNIFE THEN DRAG THE KNIFE OR OH SHIT DID YOU JUST PULL HIM TO THE GROUND FROM STANDING AND SLAM HIS THROAT INTO THE SPIKEY REMNANTS OF A DOOR FRAME SO BEAUUUUUTIFULLLLL recent actiony martial arts joints.

hee. and the new Dredd (Dredd and Raid have almost identical scripts, there's... discourse... on who took who's shits) is this neat action thing that does Dredd right and has a few oddly beautiful scenes. like it a loooooot.

Oh yea, Dredd actually surprised me. I expected it to turn out kinda meh, but in the end it kicked so much ass. Really happy they did it justice.

Strange. I really like him in that. Cannot stand him in Pulp Fic., though. Maybe because those two characters are nothing but fabula devices...
Gotta see Rob Roy.

Didn't see Revolver. Will avoid.

Didn't catch the new Dredd either. I was honestly expecting a train-wreck, so I just avoided it. Gonna hafta try it now you guys have OK'd it.

Revolver really is awful. Definitely on my worst movies list, with its peers Dogma, Slumdog Millionaire, The Fountain, A Perfect Getaway and Elizabethtown.

i actually like The Fountain a lot.... except i can't watch it. i caught it right when a few people that were really important to me died from or were diagnosed with cancer so.... yeah. it kinda hurts to watch.

Red State was okay. like Dredd, it was something i thought was going to be complete shite, it was surprisingly enjoyable. didn't feel like a Kevin Smith movie at all really.

i'm watching Chrysalis right now. unless it drops a steaming pile of turds at the end i like it. feels like a good, not deep anime actually. it's got that odd pacing and hints at some depth not found in most actiony sci-fi things that fun smaller one off anime movies get into.

This thread is wild. I thought Tim Roth was great in R. Dogs, and think The Fountain is a criminally underrated movie. I guess I have shit taste.

Behndy, have you seen Sunshine? If you liked 28 days later, you should. Danny Boyle directed, Cillian Murphy sci fi horror about astronauts nuking the sun to try to kick start it. Fucking amazing.

I'm still holding out hope for 28 Months Later. Hopefully DB will direct again. I liked 28 Weeks Later but nowhere near as much as the first.

I know this is technically a TV Miniseries, but The Strain is going to kick all the ass.

The Giver looks to bring all the nostalgia. Anyone else read it in high/middle school?
