interesting. i always have read more air is better than wrapping it because it gives an open wound less chance of stewing in it's own juices.

i only have 4 tats, but i only have them wrap it if it's a place clothes is going on, then take the wrap and clothes off as soon as i'm home. wash gently with an anti-bacterial soap 3-4 times times a day, use no perfume, no [i forget the name, the fat or lanolin?] lotion on it once or twice a day after the first 2 days. Aveeno Baby Lotion.

but they always scab up right? that's part of the process? lol. i don't mean noticeable anger crunchy stuff, but when a little bit of color flakes off a week or so later that's the scabs being done and going away ne?

I also recommend Aveeno Baby Lotion, or Aquaphor.

I've always pulled the wrapping off after an hour....then wash with warm/hot water and rub lightly with Aquaphor once or twice a day for a week or two. Worked for all of mine ( 20+)

Re wrapping: I wrap for the first few nights, as maz said above. I'll point out, though, I'm a violent sleeper, so my arm won't just stay in a nice spot where it won't gank my sheets.
Also, I wrap for clothing if necessary for a few days, airing it out when it gets too sweaty and gross.
As behnds pointed out, they do need to breathe, and letting em stew can be nasty.
I just keep applying pawpaw ointment until the itchy phase is over. It really helps soothe that and makes the scabby bit a bit nicer to deal with.
Having said that, I keep it pretty moist with pawpaw for a long time, so I haven't had too many big scab ups. Just that flaky crust you get.
As I said, I'm OCD.
Keep em clean, keep em wet.
That's how I roll.
I think my colours still look good these few years on.
As maz said though, follow their directions, watch for infection.

I did this minus the Aquaphor and used Lubriderm (very light layer)instead. I have a shit ton of tats. I have no idea how many. I guess my sleeve counts as one. LOL Other than that...yea.

My tats never scabbed unless they are infected (that has happened before ugh). It seems to be only when an artist digs in too deep. Fuckers. My whole sleeve though flaked, and that was it. 50 hours of pain and some light flaking. Looks awesome.

yeah. this one now has some of the lightest line work i've had done (there's some parts that are going to be solid silhouettes when they're shaded, so she did it in grey instead of black and really thin lines), and i still get those tiny tiny flaky black/grey scabs. hee. i got sensitive GRRRRRRRRRRRRRL skin. LOVE IT.

but yeah. this one, both sessions i didna wrap them. just went home and cleaned them lightly after a few hours. i wait a couple days to use lotion, try to clean 3 or 4 times a day, lotion once or so. seems to be healing well. but i'm a pretty stationary sleeper, and i only get 3-4 hours most nights so.... yeah. safe?

lol. i.... might have grossly under-estimated how long a sleeve, even a half'un, would take. this color bit was about 3 hours. i told her i was down for more but she said her hands were getting pretty Hold On To The Vibrating Machinery'ed out. go back next week to do mooooooooreeeee.

she also said she wants to do all the coloring, then give it 3-4 weeks to heal up to go back and do shading. i SO defer to talented artists. it's.... silly not to. i just want shizz done NAO.
