Dime was only 5 years ago
Both of them had a huge impact on me as a musician. A sad day indeed.

Re: Rip John Lennon and dimebag
yea i am not a big beattles fan nor can i say i was a huge Pantera fan but i think that's a pretty crass thing to say. i respect the contributions & legacies both brought to music in general.
plus. i have the Korg AX30G. i didn't get it becuz of Dimebag but when i was doing a demo search on Youtube it was mentioned in one of the demos that he used the AX30G. & i think that is kind of cool.
if you read the wiki. the way he died was kind of fucked up. & both Lennon and Dimebag were shot by dudes that were clearly mentally unstable. on the same day.
RIP Dimebag Darell.

John Lennon was a genius. He will continue to be missed.
And although I'm not so familiar with Dimebag, I know that he was an amazing guitarist, and I'm sure he'll be missed as well.
I know that I thought about John Lennon a whole lot today, and even got particularly sentimental, even though I was born after his death.
Their music outlives them, and I'm sure that that is what they wanted.

Re: Rip John Lennon and dimebag
bah!
I don't think I was being crass... not intentionally, at least... I just react without thinking when I hear these names.
Why? Because, after they died, people started giving a fuck. "Dimebag" is now just a name to be stamped on products/merchandise and sold to youth who've been brainwashed by the media.
If the media tells us something over and over and over again, we all start to believe it.
Now, please understand, I'm not saying people who think Kurt Cobain and Dimebag Darell are genius poets and musicians are all sheep, but I'm just incredibly cynical when it comes to the relation between consumers and businesses trying to cash in on dead celebrities by selling junk with the dead person's name plastered on it to said consumers.
So, I'm cynical, but not out to piss anyone off, haha... But, TBH, while I have no problem with the artists mentioned, they've never been influences of mine or people I had interest in musically (though I occasionally listen to Nirvana still sometimes). Like, apparently I missed the boat on just about every band I'm "supposed to love because everyone else does since music publications decided "Dead Celebrity X" was profitable".
I don't have reverence for people who died just because they are dead (since I didn't even when they were alive). I can't really say, except for a period from, like, the 3rd-5th grade, I ever had much interest in John Lennon or Pantera or Nirvana or whatever else!
Anyway, for the record, this is just a typical attitude for me... I mean, I think Classicism is boring as shit. And I think Impressionism is fucking dull and passe, and I feel like people need to get over it already. I think Dada is dead, and I only like reading about it in the context of the 1940's.
I think everything is STUPPPPIIID and I'm generally a bitch.
