hahahah YESSSSS
It's funny cause the Coquette has .9's on it. So I can't even think about doing anything lower than standard without new strings and a setup haha
The .9's are perfect for standard though. Made me nervous at first since I swear by nothing less than .11's, but these .9's are doing just fine!

11s are what I put on them as standard equipment. Since the guitars are built with zero neck angle it makes a string set feel slinkier than normal. People are amazed when I tell them they are playing 11s. I'm amazed that you are doing well with 9s only because I would think they'd just be flopping all over the place!
Matt I will be interested to hear what kind of metal sounds you get from your guitar!!!!

I use .11s on everything too, including my Socialite. I can deal with 10s on 25.5 scale, but 24.75 or less NEEDS 11s.

I have to say this next batch of guitars is going to be really interesting!ALLisNOISE wrote:I can't wait to get mine!

We have your Riddle (Foster), which will have knotty red cedar body with tortoise binding and pickup behind the bridge,
A coquette made with purpleheart body wings,
Another single pickup socialite in natural figured maple with padauk accents
An Attache without body carving in walnut brown,
And a socialite with Padauk wings and Mahogany neck.
There MIGHT also be a riddle in Tuxedo (white with black binding and accents)
Also hopefully the Riddle bass might happen this summer!

Yeah I was REALLY surprised when I put the .9's on. I had at first put .11's on and tuned it up but the tension made me so nervous (I guess I'm babying it since it's my first wood set/through body neck guitar) and I seem to like a little bit of flop when I play, so I put the .9's on and was like WOW this is it. Now, after I was jamming with Grr for about an hour the strings really wore themselves in a bit and I got a little more flop than before, but I haven't played it since that jam to assess how the strings are now.colin wrote:I use .11s on everything too, including my Socialite. You might be interested to know that the previous owner (Bob_the_robot) had me put 12s on it for him!
So don't be nervous about strings! BUT use whatever you want obviously!

Yeah the guy that ordered it asked about doing a guitar in purple but wanted to still see some wood grain. He may not have ever heard of purple heart before but was really excited when he saw pictures of the wood.

Re: Ask a Coquette owner anything!
Looks like the purple heart guitar has been called off (unless I just decide to make one anyway).
The fellow saw these two 12-to-6-string conversions and decided to save some $ and get a guitar sooner! Can ya blame him?
He grabbed the red one, the shaded one is still available.
The price? $1,000 plus shipping and PP fees.
