SO excited to get this built up. Going to plug it into a bass rig to trigger massive bass/blips/bloops in the band I play drums in, probably add some delay and fuzzywuzzy'ssssss for the NASTY

Re: What is in the post? The thread of and for GAS!
After being perfectly content with my Rusty Box/Mini combo for gritty cleanish tone/chunky OD in my Albini-esque noise punk project, I'm feeling suddenly unsatisfied. I got the Rusty for the OD, but there's no good way to go from clean to dirty mid song without a different OD. But I feel like having both is redundant. The only problem is that everything sounds better running into the Rusty Box, so I'm having a hard time justifying selling it.
Ugh. I just want a good bass preamp with a footswitchable dirty channel that can get me that grindy chunky OD sound but still have a nice fat cleanish channel with lots of headroom to slam my fuzz into. Does such a thing even exist?
Also been GASing SUPER hard for a Behemoth II lately. But I gotta upgrade to a bigger board first.

Sounds to me like you can get what you want out of amp that you can drive the front end of to get a bit of dirt. What kind of amp do you have now?neonblack wrote: Ugh. Pedalwise what you describe to me kind of reminds me of my Fuck OD. I preferred it to the mini which you seemed unsatisfied with, so maybe that's worth a shot based on my experience?

Re: What is in the post? The thread of and for GAS!
I just have a hartke solid state amp at the moment. It has a "tube amp emulator" that actually sounds pretty nice, but not exactly like a tube amp. Dunno exactly what to look for. Until the past year, I didn't do anything but clean bass.
I have an ashdown 4x10 that can handle 600w at 8ohms. But my amp is only 250 at 4ohms or 125 at 8. I got it before I upgraded from a 150w 1x15 cab. So now my amp is a little lighter duty than my cab, but I haven't had any volume problems.

To clarify, I would like a better amp for a reasonable price (400-500 TOPS) if anyone has a reccomendation.

Re: What is in the post? The thread of and for GAS!
I found over time that I was trying to get pedals to do too much of the tone making that amps should be doing. pedals are great but they can only sound as good as the rest of your setup that makes up the signal. In my opinion if you can't get a sound you love from just your amp and guitar then you need a new amp. Now I have no idea if you really need a new amp or not, but I suggest you play everything you can get your hands on just so you know about all the options. the same goes for cabs/strings/pickup/speakers/basses, you should try to play firsthand everything you can because it's all about the perception of the individual.
I've found myself much more keen on older amps, I love my Musicman HD 130, I prefer it 100x over the Markbass combo I was playing before hand. It can definitely get gritty and dirty on its own, which pairs great with more gain from pedals. the HD130 is in that price bracket. So are older Sunns and Acoustic Control amps. Obviously everyone has preferences but I think you really don't need to spend too much to get a good tone especially if you're buying used

That looks awesome, I'd love to see how you rig this up once you've done itDannDubbleEwe wrote:

I really want a Rainbow Machine and/or Ghost Echo so jwar can etch them for me. Has anyone done a Behringer rehouse? I've got a Vibrato I'd like to have someone rehouse, but only if it won't be a total pain in the ass for them.
