Hey, I hear ya, to each his own. And yeah, you need to let tubes warm up a bit. Luckily mine only takes about 5 minutes or so, so I always switch my amp on first and then set everything else up. By the time the cables are run and my pedalboard is out of its case, it's ready.

But yes, it is pretty fucking heavy. That's the one that I could see being a pain in the ass. Maybe I'll feel differently when I'm 50

meh. i'm strong enough. i just already have too much shit to carry. not trying to add more. like, if i didna love my toanz as is, i'd be down to check out the ugly antiquated side of amps. but... i am! so yay!!

somewhat related - i'm not trying to big time or anything, but i don't know if i want to play any more clubs that are upstairs without a lift. 's some BULLSHIT lugging hella stuff up one or two flights of stairs and getting sweaty and tired before playing.

To me, the real BLEGH is when we play in the city, and the place doesn't have a loading zone for us to park for a few minutes to unload. Lugging my cab and helping the drummer carry a drumset from a parking lot two blocks away ... now THAT is bullshit.

Unfortunately, in Boston, Providence and Worcester, a lot of the downtown is small one-way streets, so you really can't park in front, even for a minute.

I got a $250 parking ticket trying to do that in Providence once.

Went to traffic court to contest it, told the judge what happened. He asked "You're not one of those hollering screaming singers, are you?" To which I replied, "No sir, I play bass. My bandmates don't let me near the microphone."

He knocked the ticket down to $25.

True story.

I said lift weight god damn it!

I get it. But nothing beats the sound of a tube amp IMO. I didn't used to think that, but I've played both now and know that one is sexier than the other. I miss my Eden.
