In 1959 it didn't have the indie album cover "yo let's put some big-ass text over a photo" design style, though.

I'm guessing that was either me or Tristan. You're welcome!

I just finished David Brins second Uplift Trilogy. At the end the constant cuts between characters got pretty lame and the whole thing a little too trippy for my liking.

I'm actually really gassing for a cheap Teisco or something for some extended guitar playing
Definitely want to try some middle bridges/drum sticks and weights and harmonic damping
Also interested in some of the more permanent mods

Bumping this, as I was about to start such a thread after not realizing this one existed.

After a few years of not reading very much at all, I got a Kindle at the beginning of the year and have been on quite a page turn spree. Just finished the second GoT book, felt it dragged on, didn't grab me as much as the first one (or the HBO program) did.

Other things from the last 6 months-
- the two most recent Chuck Palahniuk novels. Reread Damned before going into Doomed. Just learned (via Wiki, not sure how accurate), that there's plans for a third...
- Chang-Rae Lee's On Such a Full Sea. Interesting dystopian perspective, a must read for me being from B-Mor.
- Eggers' The Circle
- King's sequel to The Shining
- The Goldfinch. Overrated. Only read it to placate the wife. Loved The Secret History, but believe the rumors that it was written by someone else.

Not sure what I'm going to pick up next. Maybe some Irvine Welsh? Haven't read any of his stuff. Maybe some Bukowski, haven't read Women since high school.

I'm currently reading Stephen King's The Stand.
I'm getting pretty into it so far.

After I finish that, I really want to read The Lord of the Rings.
I haven't ever read the trilogy before, and I think it's something I would really enjoy.

The Stand is my favourite King book. I don't remember his name but the pyro guy is awesome
Not really reading right now but Galapagos by Vonnegut and How Music Works by David Byrne are up next

I only started it yesterday, I'm only about 140 pages in.
Not sure I know which fellow you're talking about just yet, but I'm sure I'll find out soon enough.
I'm glad to hear that you like it, makes it feel like it should be worth it to read. :)

Also, Galapagos is a great one.
Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors.
The short story anthology Bagombo Snuff Box is one of my favorite books of all time.

How Music Works is super interesting, I loved it. Combination of interesting history, Byrne's unique perspective, and some cool stories.

I'm reading Reckoning With Risk by Gerd Gigerenzer. Pretty interesting.

It's one of my favourites. Might even be the one I enjoyed the most. It had the all the artsy stuff but still told a story that was mostly a good read. It has been ages since I read Gravity's Rainbow though, so I don't really know how that'd work for me today. It's not one of his lighter reads. (I enjoy both of his styles, the Gravity's Rainbow as well as the Vineland style.)

I really want to get back to reading more regularly. I've been pretty much out of the habit for a couple of months. More of a shame because I actually have two great books on my nightstand that I like so far but haven't read in a while.
